This school has a strong history of allowing these types of events and it is shameful for a school to have this type of history.

Right. I guess for you "freedom of speach and assembly" means bigotry, racism, and anti-semitism coupled with violence and intimidation while a smaller, minority group's voice is silenced and threatened.

"The police officers were forced to surround the CR’s table both in front and in back in order to protect the conservative students’ safety."

"Traycey, one of the members of the conservative club, was slapped by Nala Gardizi,"

" food was thrown at the Republican college students and drinks poured over the campaign materials on their table"

"one of the women on Monday as shouting, “The only way we can defeat you is to kill as many as possible! I’d rather die a suicide bomber’s death than to call myself an American!” He continued, “In my opinion, these were terrorist threats.”

"Nor were the GUPS told not interfere with the ability of the College Republicans to exercise their rights of free speech. "

"Watch what happens when the police aren’t around, b---h!” he said someone menaced."

"Campus President Robert Corrigan has a lackluster reputation for meting out discipline to the GUPS despite an earlier attack on Jewish students during a pro-Israel rally at SFSU when the off campus city police needed to be called in to protect Jewish students and escort them to safety. Corrigan did suspend the GUPS for one year, but did not require them to relinquish their office on campus to other active campus student groups. "

You can read something from the SF Examiner here if you so desire. That is the only source I could find that wasn't a personal blog.

What I do find very interesting is that neither of the local alternative weekly papers made any mention of it. Both the SF Bay Guardian and the SF Weekly have nothing. This makes me think there was perhaps some embellishment. The thing I hated most when I attended Cal was the protesting. I am happy they are expressing their 1st ammendment rights, but I was trying to learn Chemistry and the drums, chanting and blocking the walkways and building entrances did not endear me to the cause.

Lack of respect for fellow students' First Amendment rights, yes. Pretty assy, and it happens on the entire socio-political spectrum.

But, this is hardly a jihad. Mr. Horowitz is king of making mountains out of molehill.
