guess what book is considered "educational?"

none other than PLEDGED! i was at Borders books the other day and went to the "Education" section to look at college books and there was PLEDGED next to "How to improve your SAT score."

I've seen it in the "Women's Studies" section in Barnes and Noble.

When I bought it, at the campus bookstore, it was in "Best Sellers."

Maybe it was in the education section because it is a great study in poorly organized thoughts. I didn't think the writing was terrible, and SOME of the recommendations made some sense, but I thought the way she put her thoughts together wasn't very cohesive. As for following the girls through a year of school, I got into it... it reminded me of the Sweet Valley High books I read in middle school.

But I can't see how this book could be considered a case study. Or a study in women's behavior. I haven't seen AR's PhD in sociology, so.... I don't know how seriously I can take her recommendations. I don't think she did an effective scientific study, and if she's going to pass the book off as journalism, then she should omit the Sweet Valley High narrative.

I would guess it was in the educational section because it's about college.

Kinda off topic but I used to love those Sweet Valley High books. I still have a bunch of them and read them during the summer when I'm really bored.. they rank right up there with my Baby Sitters Club collection.

I'm a huge dork when it comes to things like that!

Am I the only person who would probably just rearrange the display?

I also have this thing about displays of teddy bears or other stuffed animals, and they're all askew. I'll prop them up the way they're supposed to be!
