First Law of Power

In searching the net I came across a site about a book entitled "The 48 Laws of Power".

They seem to be the perfect Corporate Blueprint.

I wanted to post em one by one and get your thoughts on each.

NEVER OUTSHINE THE MASTER

Always make those above you feel comfortable in their sense of superiority. In your desire to please or impress them do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite - inspire fear and insecurity. Make them appear more brilliant than they are - and you will attain the heights of power.

The people highest up got the lowest self esteem.
-Kanye West-
All falls down
I guess my man knows a thing or two. but in my opinion, i think that rule goes with plenty of life's aspects. if you look at the most popular women among men, they do not make anyone feel threatened by their intelligence or power. ex: janet jackson and britney spears are very powerful, but you would never think it the way they present themselves. however martha stewart is viewed negatively and many people mock oprah maybe two of the most powerful and intelligent women in our society.

Ahhh...that's very true.

This also can be applied to "informal masters/leaders". The best examples can be seen on reality tv. There's always a fool who tries to disrespect or compete with the ones who have more power and influence than themself....and winds up getting voted out.

I have definitely had to learn this the hard way. The sad thing is I keep having to "re-learn" it. Prime example, my supervisor, who is working on her Ph.D., basically told me that as much as she would like for me to stay on board, I would be expected to resign when I started my Ph.D. program. I have never heard such bull in my life!
