Do You Believe in Miracles?

Yeah this is kinda random but I started thinking out of the blue about this after hearing a story on my local news. Do you personally believe in miracles? Have you ever witnessed or heard of a legitimate one? I'm not talking about things like passing Algebra (though that was pretty darn miraculous for me) but about serious things that happen in life? I myself have 2 stories.

1. My sister is 39 & has a 21 year old son & a 15 year old. Though she wanted more children, her health is not good so she remained content with her two boys. During late 2003, she finds that she is expecting again. She's completely taken off guard b/c doctors said she was unable to get pregnant. Unfortunately, she suffered a heart attack at three months and bounced in and out of the hospital through the remainder of her pregnancy. The doctors told her that the baby would be born Down Syndrome. When the baby was born, she had a girl and my niece is now 4 months and is completely healthy. I believe that she is a little miracle. Of course, every baby is a miracle in my eyes but my niece is something special.

2. When my significant other was 13, he was diagnosed with cancerous tumors in his neck. He had tumors the size of golf balls all around. The doctors basically said that it was not good & he was not likely to recover. There was nothing they could do. However, his family prayed and to this day still believe that God answered their prayers by curing him. On the day he was supposed to go in for surgery, the tumors were gone. The doctors were baffled but one doctor told them that medicine does not always have the answers. Sometimes you have to ask a bigger power for help & M is a great example of what faith will do.

Does anyone else have stories to share?

It's good to see I'm not the only one.

The fact that I'm alive is a miracle! There are a number of examples of this but one in particular happened when I was two. I fell nine feet onto my head - it was a wonder I didn't break my neck. Anyway, my brain got all messed up and swelled, I cracked my skull (you can still see the line on x-ray) and I was bleeding from my ears, eyes, nose and mouth. I was not expected to make it, but, at one point my mom says that I started singing my favorite Sunday School song - just BELTING it out! But, at the time, my brain activity was way off so the doctors didn't really know how I was doing it. That marked the beginning of my "recovery."

Funny that you should ask! I am in the process of writing about a really interesting miracle, but I have to ask permission from the one person before I do so.

As for others; I once broke my wrist while skating. The x-rays showed that the bone had separated and went bad together askew - not a fun break - and I had to wait two days to even get a cast. That Sunday, I went for communion at church, and my pastor laid hands on my cast. The Friday afterwards, I had my next appointment, to see if I needed surgery on my wrist.

I went to the orthopedist, who sent me downstairs to their x-ray department, and waited to see the doctor. He took one look at the x-ray and said, "They sent up the wrong x-rays. There's nothing wrong with this wrist," and sent me down again. Back upstairs, he looked at the new x-rays and got a little miffed, "They sent the wrong x-rays again!" This time, he went down with me, I had the x-ray, and he personally brought the film up to his office. He was dumbstruck. He said, "There's nothing wrong with this - you should at least have a scar on your bone! Did you do anything special with your wrist?" I was quiet, then said, "Do you believe in prayer? My pastor laid hands on me." The doctor was quiet at first, then said, "That's the only reasonable explanation. You hear of things happening like this, but I've never seen it with my own eyes." I have the documentation for this, including the before & after x-rays.

This is one of many, so many miracles that a few of us are putting together a diary of these.
