I'm thinking about ending this "job"
I've been seriously thinking about giving up being the moderator of this board. Here's why
I was posting and got booted and lost my entire post I will post it again on Wednesday you all. Sorry. I'm upset 'cause it was nice and long.

Hi Soror,
Do we have a say in the matter? I know sometimes we get frustrated, but I don't think you should make your decision in haste. I think that you are doing a wonderful job making sure this message board is conducive to maintaining the image of Delta. In all fairness, and I hope I am speaking for everyone here, we would love for you to stay on as moderator, but we understand if you feel you have to do otherwise. Either way, we value your opinions and your advice.
Until Omega,

I agree. Soror Director, you do a GREAT job modertating this board. **applause**
Could your frustration with posting be addressed by the forum owners? Maybe others are having the same problem (I'm not though)?

Sorors, here's my position on this matter:
If you all didn't know, we'll you're about to. I'm being groomed for leadership in Delta, locally, regionally, and nationally. Therefore, it is imperative that rules be set, followed including the unwritten ones.
Delta has not given us any directives on communicating with those who are interested in Delta. I know that our President has mentioned that it is a great avenue for sorors to communicate and network.
As a premise, I like to use our Official Website. If it's not seen or discussed on there, it really shouldn't be seen or discussed on unofficial sites or boards. I think the DeltaNet is ideal for those who don't mind discussing openly things pertaining to Delta and/or Delta business.
I often wonder what would happen if our National President were peruse this message board. I asked myself would she be pleased to read about things pertaining to Delta i.e. Rush, process, GPA, etc. I don't think she would be too pleased.
For some reason, we can't seem to grasp that there is a way to conduct Delta issues, and it's the way that Delta has it laid out. Read your publications that come from Delta that spell out how and when we should do things.
I may need to be more specific, and I will because I don't want anything misconstrued. We still answer questions on here about Delta Rush, interviews, etc. and we shouldn't.
I appreciate the comments, I really do. But, if we're going to continue to discuss things that we shouldn't (pertaining to Delta), I don't wish to be a part of it.
Until Delta sets guidelines for discussing Delta (other than calendar of events and/or information about sorors) we should be careful of what we say.

DirectorDST99,
I apologize for the problems you had posting your message last night. Right around the same time you were trying to post your message I was doing some work on the webserver and had to reboot the server a few times during the process. This may be what caused you to be booted from the website. Just wanted to tell you about this so that you know this problem will not be a regular or random occurence.

Soror, we hear you loud and clear.
I would like to think that we inform posters when a question is inappropriate and that we don't give out too much info. I think we can continue to discuss general information that is already available for public consumption without giving any specifics.
I know that National HQ is very actively working to put those guidelines out there but as we all know, some will continue to ignore the rules. If you continue to moderate this board, we can be sure that once the new rules are established, they will be followed in this forum. In the meantime, the forum guidelines, esp. deleting inappropriate posts, seem to be doing fine.
I seriously hope you reconsider.

i agree with soror moderator. i think the internet has become a crutch for some potential members. it is very easy to assume an identity and ask questions on the web that could be easily researched or answered by the appropriate source. some of us may say too because we don't know any better and still some of us unknowingly dissiminate incorrect information. so, it is in everyone's interest to let national answer those questions.

If a SF may reply?
Look, we all know there are few SF-friendly avenues for us to interact with y'all, and I came here for that interaction, not to be ridiculed or belittled like on DELTANet.
If there is such a problem with what's being posted (and I have been gone for a while) then I can understand your point.
As long as the site continues, then I say "do what ya gotta do." You and I have communicated via e-mail, and it was a very respectful discourse. I'm sure everything will be okay. I just don't want to lose the sense of peaceableness ( I have no idea if it's a word) that I don't see elsewhere.

I agree that this board should not be a channel through which prospectives get answers about membership criteria or other information privy to duly initiated and active members. For one thing, there are much better, more accurate ways of researching the organization. And, the fact is, no one here (soror or non-member) can do diddly-squat to aid in a prospective's pursuit of membership. Since we can't prove our membership (via membership cards and the such), we really don't know who's who, and with that in mind, we can't have a possible perpetrator speaking on behalf of our Sisterhood. On the flip side, I do like being able to talk about Delta and black greekdom in a personal, social sense. So I'd like to see the board continue, granted sorors and SFs respect the ground rules and refrain from discussing matters that should only be addressed officially and in an offical Delta medium.

Madame Moderator,
As a Sister Friend and as a young woman who is very interested in becoming a dedicated member of DST, I will say that you should "do what you have to do". I too feel that other interested women USE this forum as an easy way out. I have been interested in DST since my sophomore year in high school (5 yrs ago)and no one in family went to college, so I had to get the information by myself.
I really love this forum, even though I don't respond much, but I feel that if other interested women were not given an easy way out such as DeltaNet or this forum, they would #1) appreciate the information more, #2) remember more, and thus, develop somewhat of a real sense of what DST is about. I'm tired of women saying that they want to be Delta's and most don't know jack about her...and I think that forums that "give away" information are somewhat to blame. If we (interests) were forced to interact with your Sorors one on one, we could gain a wealth of knowledge, more than what is available on the internet. Furthermore, we would attain the proper etiquette necessary in that "getting to know them" stage. Experience is the best teacher!!
I'm not trying to hate (excuse my language), but I want other interested women to read, think, discover, and learn about DST the way that I did...I want them to take this business as seriously as I do!!!! So, if all postings consisting of subjects that pertain to membership, "pledging", etc. were suspended from discussion, my feelings would not be hurt one bit. All that is meant for us to know will be revealed at the proper time.
I had a lot more to say, but I GOT KICKED OFF!!!! (lucky for the reader!) GGRRRR THAT TICKS ME OFF!!!!
In summary, Miss Moderator, I know that there are many of your Sorors and us SF that would love to continue this forum with YOU as the moderator...impose what ever rules are necessary to for us to do that.
PS...My prayers are with you as you PUSH towards higher heights in DST.

I suppose that the decision has been made for me. Sorors and SFs, I was made Interim Director of Media & Public Relations at my job after I contemplated ending this. This new position is a huge responsibility.
I don't want to neglect the board so I will be stepping down as moderator. I will notify John Hammell of who I would like to see keep things in order on here because she is a stickler for following rules. In fact, I know of two who will do justice to this forum and they are 12dn94dst and the411.
I will not be far and will definitely be dropping by at least once a week. Be Blessed...love you all.
