Question Rush for graduate chapter

I am a prospective member and have been invited to a rush for a graduate chapter. I am curious about what to expect. I know this is a chance to meet the members and I already know a few of them. But I am wondering if I should wear a traditional business suit or can I opt for something like a pantsuit. From friends who pledged undergraduate chapters, I was told that you should dress like you're going to a job interview. Is that for the actual interview and/or the rush? Also, does anyone have any suggestions or comments about the graduate rush in general? Thank you for your inputs! Have a blessed day!

VA_Lady, the rush is the first formal contact you will have with the chapter as a whole. Therefore, it is a first impression and we all know first impressions are lasting.

By all means, opt for a professional appearance i.e. no pants, neutral colors, understated jewelry and makeup. This advice includes the interview as well as the rush. In fact, if you are invited to membership, you will find that this is the attire/appearance for most alumnae chapter activities/meetings.

Good Luck!

Question

Ladies, in your opinions, is it in bad taste to wear a navy blue suit to a rush or interview? I'm only asking this question because on another message board it was mentioned that this was in poor taste. It was suggested to wear black or brown.

Personally, I think a NAVY blue suit is appropriate. It is a staple of a professional wardrobe but SOME sorors may only see the Zeta/SGRho color of blue. Since their colors are royal blue, I don't see a problem but some might. Sooooooo stick to a neutral color (gray, black, brown, tan) that looks good on you (there are people who look horrible in gray or brown).

Good Luck!
