Wife Swap on ABC

So, who here watched last night? Personally, I liked the woman from Rural NJ. She was great standing up to Steven like that. He is a jerk!!! He so looked down on her because of where she came from.

As much as I didn't like Jodi in the beginning of the show, I was impressed with the turnaround she did throughout the show. But how telling was it when her son asked her why she was crying, and she answered that she missed them. He said, "But you are never home." WAKE UP CALL!!!!

This may be another guilty pleasure of mine this season.

I'm not watching the show because I'm bothered by the concept, but how long does the swap last? I'd think that could really mess with younger kids.

It sounds like the swap is for ten days. First five days, they follow the rules of the house. Second five days, they make up their rules.

I understand your being bothered by the concept. I like how the families seem to realize how much they are taking for granted and change. Except for Steven!

The two couples from last night were on Oprah about a week or two ago.
Typical program pitch w/ sneak-preview footage and follow up interviews, etc.

Steven stood up and read off a formal apology for being an insensitive jackass and offered to cut wood for a few hours under her supervision. Nice, now let's see if he follows through.

When asked what he learned, Steven said (to thunderous applause) "I learned I'm an SOB."

There may be hope for him yet.

I was going to ask if you'd seen the "sneak preview" last Weds but I didn't want to shoot your blood pressure into the stratosphere. Basically anal-compulsive neat woman and messy woman w/ 25 pets switched. Now I agree 25 is too many, but anal put them into crates and shipped them to a "pet spa" WITHOUT ASKING THE HUSBAND OR KIDS.

Well, since I work in the dairy industry, I got a notice that a dairy farming family was involved and was to be featured on Oprah, but didn't tape or watch her show. Was that the family from last night? I saw the end, but didn't think the family from NJ were dairy farmers.

What do the "rich" parents do for a living?

No, the dairy family are coming up on another episode. Oprah interviewed two sets. The hoity toity mom on that episode is just as snotty and even more insulting.

Is this the first season for this show? I'm thinking it's a takeoff on a German show I watched last year, with the same concept.

The funniest episode from that one was when Wife A looked in Wife B's closet, found a bunch of track suits, and called her husband to warn him to "watch out for that woman, i know she's a total slut and will try to seduce you, because she has all these track suits in her closet!"

If someone shipped my pets to some "spa" without asking me, she'd get kicked out of the house!

I watched 15 minutes of the first episode.

What a surprise - you take two people who are complete opposites, switch them, and they hate their new place? Blah.

Reality TV has its bleakist in my opinion.

Thumbs down

Ummm.... I want those 50 - 60 minutes back. Oh my goodness, that show was awful. I kept hoping that maybe just maybe it will get better. Obviously, it did not.

Fool me once, shame on you. There will not be another time, trust me.

last night's episode was hilarious!!! i was actually liking the environmental family until the mother was screaming bloody murder cause she found out her dogs were let outside. i can understand that it would upset someone. but it is like this woman lost all sense of reason and didnt want to go on living. it was weird. but i still liked them better than that other family. i thought they were obnoxious.

I thought it was funny when the tree-hugger mom got all upset and started crying about the deerheads on the wall saying "These creatures belong to God. I'm so sorry!!! I'm so sorry!" Get a grip lady. Some people go hunting.

OMG I know she was totally spazzing.

I personally liked the first wife swap the best because WOAH Jodi was a bee-atch. Spending 2000 a day on clothes. WTF!!!!! Also, I was wondering why the hell she and her husband even BOTHERED to have children when they have THREE nannies to watch them. Plus, Jodi's idea of "quality" time with her children was ONE HOUR!!!!! What????!!!!!?????

As for the one on Wednesday, the Confederate flag would bug me also, but as a person who has a History degree I get it. Don't agree with him flying the flag but I do know that living in the South is VERY different than where I live in the Southwest.

I think what bugs me most about the show is that the women tend to follow the other wives rules pretty closely (well minus Jodi and her fifteen minutes of chopping wood) but as soon as the wives make the new rules one of the families just completely disregards them. I'm just like "hello, this women spent a week of her life following your homes stupid rules the least you can do is follow her "stupid" rules for the rest of the time she is there".

I have to admit this show is kind of lame but it is like a guilty addiction (right now). Although, I think the excitement will wear off, mainly because eventually you will be watching practically the same shower over and over again just a different "cast of characters".
