Help!

I have a question...
I pledged Pi Phi a while back and went all the way through the program, but I didn't get in because my grades were too low. Since then I have transferred to a different school and there is no Pi Phi there. I paid all of my pledge and initiation fees, and I was just wondering If there was any way to be initiated now that my grades are up. I saw that Pi Phi does alumni initiation, but I won't be graduating until the end of the year. Can I get initiated in Grad school or do I have to do alumni initiation or something?
Please help.

Lynn

You would need to go through the AI process which requires sponsorship of an alumnae club and collegiate chapter. Graduate students are considered 'alumnae' and would not be eligible for collegiate membership. Your situation is not unique-- many women who didn't 'make grades' become Pi Phis via AI. Generally they do become members of the chapters where they pledged so it would behoove you to keep in contact with some of your pledge sisters. If you left under not so good terms, it wouldn't hurt to mend those fences.

I am curious though, if the chapter knew you were not going to be initiated due to academic reasons, why did they bill you initiation fees. That is not usually a last minute decision (trust me, if it was, they'd have called me) so you should not have had to pay for an initiation that wasn't going to happen.

That's a good question...I'm not sure why they billed me. I think it's because they didn't check the grades early enough. I got my bill at our first pledge meeting. I wasn't told that I couldn't be initiated until about a week and a half before initiation, which really upset me. It was really hard to tell my pledge class too. Even if I had been initiated at the beginning of the following semester, I don't think it would have been the same.
