Xi Nu Omega Chapter Foundation Gala

Hello all,
The Monarch Awards Foundation of the Xi Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is hosting our 22nd annual gala on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in downtown Chicago from 6 until Midnight. Note that cocktails begin at 6 and dinner at 7. All are welcome.

Each year, we honor outstanding local African-American men who have distinguished themselves in such areas as law, medicine, business, music, arts, statemanship, communications, etc. We also award a number of academic scholarships to high school and college students and make a number of financial awards to local non-profit organizations.

Past Monarch Award recipients include men of such caliber as Illinois Senator (and soon to be US Senator) Barack Obama and Chicago news anchorman Hosea Sanders, to name a few.

Last year our Mistress of Ceremony was Kim Fields (yes, Tooty).
This year, our Mistress of Ceremony will be none other than T'keyah Crystal Keymah and its no secret - receiving our award as the Monarch man in the category of music will be none other than Common.

Dinner tickets are $75.00.
I also have raffle tickets for sale.

I'm sorry that you won't be able to come. I know that you live quite a distance away from Chicago.

I hope that the Soror Moderators will bear with me just one more time with my post here instead of me moving the entire thread to the Events forum (which I still have not had the time to locate while I try to learn my new job). I have sold a few tickets to folk who frequent this forum.

I want to bring this back up to the top just in case anyone else who frequents the site wants a ticket. I have a few tickets left.

Raffle ticket prizes are $1000.00 (first prize), $500.00 (second prize) and a deluxe weekend for two at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers (third prize). Soror Moderators,
Thank you for bearing with me by allowing me to post information about my Chapter Foundation's Gala which was held this past Saturday. I'm happy to say that the Gala was a huge success and definitely, in my opinion, the premiere event of the season. We had over 1300 people in attendance. And the crowd was especially wowed by Common, our other Monarch men (another of which was also a bit of a celebrity, Bishop Horace Smith) and our Mistress of Ceremony, T'keymah. Also, I had the pleasure of serving as a hostess to our Monarch men and must say that Common was very down-to-earth (not to mention a real cutie

).
