In this thread we post our favorite hot dish recipe

Well, we simply cannot have a Jell-o thread without a Hot Dish thread (or casserole for you non-confirmands)

Post your favorite Hot Dish recipe, the other foundation of Lutheran gatherings! These can be meat, vegetable or meat and vegetable. Go crazy!

Tater Tot Hotdish

INGREDIENTS
1 lb. hamburger
1-15 oz. can french-style green beans
1 can cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
Tater Tots

Directions
Break up uncooked hamburger over bottom of 8 x 8" baking dish. Salt sparingly. Pour beans - including liquid - over meat. Pour cream soup over beans. Cover with a layer of Tater Tots. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

This is my absolute favorite ever. My Hall Director in Alaska made it for me when I broke up with my boyfriend. She is Lutheran and from South Dakota, she knows the comfort food.

This is a dessert, but still hot:

Dump Cake

1 box yellow cake mix
1 can cherry pie filling
1 can crushed pineapple
2 sticks oleo, melted
1 cup broken pecans
1 cup coconut (optional)

Mix the cherry pie filling & pineapple in the bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan. Spread the dry cake mix over top. Evenly spread the pecans (& coconut, if using) on top of the cake mix, then drizzle the melted butter over the entire creation.

Bake for 1 hour at 350°, let it sit for about 10 minutes before serving.
