New Orleans Doomsday

http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/sto...71.htm&sc=1110

Of course there would be less to worry about if Congress hadn't passed a law prohibiting the Mississippi River to change course (Army Corp. blasted an ancient log jam causing the river to begin to shift to the Atchafalaya River). No river in New Orleans= one less flood obstacle.

New Orleans is so low sitting that it's very likely that the whole town will spend some time underwater.

Being from NOLA, I expect some flooding. We built new pumping stations and flood protection...let's see how it works.

I'm outta here!

Crazy stuff...hopefully people come out of the storm ok, and the city doesn't take too much damage.

I'm worried that many of those old buildings in the French Quarter won't make it. They're right next to the water.

If the storm doesn't get them, as the rain goes further upstream, I hope the flooding doesn't.

I hope those pumps do their thing.
