Delta badge on eBay
Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta,
I just wanted to let you know there is a DST badge on eBay. It is, supposedly, from the estate of Colin Powell's sister-in-law. I don't know how true that is, but I know that my Fraternity is trying very hard to keep our badges off eBay and me and my systers buy up as many as we can to keep them 'in the family'. I know you feel the same way and I hope one of you is lucky enough to win this auction. The URL for the auction is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...item=324530566
Fraternally,
Barbara Forbes-Lyons

Sorors,
As of 2:29pm central time the highest bid was $5 for the pin. There is a picture of it and info about how the seller obtained it. There is 6 days and 9 hours remaining on this item. I am not a user of ebay and this is my first time to go to the website. Just keeping you posted.

Sorors and Friends,
I have been a silent reader for a couple of days now. I have a question about the chapter guard. The seller says that the guard is a Howard University guard. Is it me or does that guard clearly say AX (Alpha Chi). Or, is the picture of a different Pin?

You are right!! I saw that also, and mentioned to C&C, but that is supposed to be the pin that they are trying to sell. Maybe they received incorrect info on the pin, and is repeating what they were told. OR they could just be trying to make the pin seem to have a more significant value than it really does. AX...isn't that the chapter at Tennessee State?

FYI: Currently: $51.00 Time left: 5 days, 6 hours
It is said, that you need to contact the seller if you have any questions about the piece. So, if you have registered with eBay, you can find out the address to do so.

For those of you who are/were interested the piece is currently going for $10.50. (Bid increment:$0.50, so the minimum bid now is $11.00) There is 5 days, 12 hours + left in the bidding.
The link that is listed in PnguinTrax initial post is a working link.
Sorors, if you are interested in the article, why? <-- just friendly conversation

Has anyone here bidded on this item? Or registered with ebay? I just want to know what they (the seller)had going through their mind when they wrote this description.
Quote:
Here is a great item! I bought this pin from the estate of Colin Powell's Sister in law. She was a librarian here in Birmingham. The chapter guard is for Howard University-the founding chapter for this African American Sorority in 1913. This is an old Delta Sigma Theta Sorority pin with chapter guard. The chapter is Howard University. It is marked 14 kt. also B. Williams. Pin is in excellent condition with all seed pearls intact. Please email me with all questions before bidding. Buyer pays shipping.

If this was my piece and I was unsure about the specifics (the chapter it was from), I wouldn't put them in the descrption. Does anyone care that it was from the estate of Colin Powell's sister-in-law?? I guess they thought that it would make it seen to have more importance. (??)
Has anyone figured out what is up with the AX???
Anyhoo, you still have 3 days, 9 hrs+ @ the bid of $51.00, for those of you who are interested.

Until I saw this, I didn't realize that items such as these could end up in the "wrong" hands. I went to eBay site and did a search on all BGLO's. Apparently, we are not the only one's with items with our name up for bidding, as the AKA's have a couple of pins for sale. Most of the other greek items appeared to be handmade or home decorations with the letters on it. I read in the general forum on this same issue, the posts basically said that this type of sell is not illegal. I just wish that something could be done.

I checked EBay out also, bid still at $51.00, I hope it returns to the Sorority. I thank you for the heads up.

Ms.CrimsonCream:
Soror, I just bidded on this item and apparently it was higher than that $51 dollars. If I end up with it, I'll let you know if it matches the description. I just feel that it should stay within the Delta family.

It should stay in the family. But if it doesn't, there isn't anything that can be done about it.
Right now, the bid is $66.99 (Is that from you RedAngel?) 1 day 1 hr to go. I hope you do get it.
The information about the pin (it being from Howard) has been corrected, though.

You are certainly right---all you can do is try and the 66.99 bid amount is my bid. Even though the information has been corrected--it's the principal of the thing. I'll keep you all informed and if/when I get it I'll let you know.

Does this anger any of you as much as it does me? With "crossing the sands" still fresh on my mind, it just makes me sick to think that someone would sell something so dear to so many women...something that so many of us had to work so hard to get, and work hard every day to live up to the ideals that this pin symbolizes. This makes me very, very sad
Also, to Barbara Forbes-Lyons, THANK YOU for looking out for something that is so priceless to us. We really appreciate your alert

As of 9:30 pm (MST) the bidding wars had 22 minutes and the pin was going for $72.50. I believe that Soror Red Angel has the higest bid, I am not sure.
RedAngel, let us know if you were able to beat all others out.
