Hobbies and Interests

When filling out your recruitment registration form, what kind of stuff did you put down as hobbies and interests? I'm really not sure what to put... I like running and Sex and the City? Haha. I feel like a loser now.

Before you fill out your recruitment application, you may want to take a separate sheet of paper. List all accomplishments, community service, awards, honors, clubs/sports/activities you have been involved with 9th grade-present. This should give you plenty of fodder for that application.

PM me if you want help. I've done plenty of these with friends to help them with resume writing!

Were you ever (and I mean EVER) on the honor roll? That works.

Anything that can be construed as an academic honor can go there - they won't know, for example, that everyone in your high school who does ANYTHING journalistically is in Quill & Scroll.

Things sororities value that you might forget you can do(regardless of their value in the "real world")

Management talent - Prom committee, or any indication that you're able to organize things -- conferences, meetings, workshops, dances, socials. Can you make meetings run smoothly and swiftly? Put it on the application

Art/design/craft talent - who do you think designs the shop windows and floats, tee-shirts, little sister favors, senior "yearbooks" etc.? Sororities POUNCE on art or craft talent in anyone who isn't heavily tatooed and pierced.

Music/drama/dance talent - they're looking for someone to arrange, write, choreograph Greek Week skits, Greek Sing,

Sports talent -- don't know about running, but if there's a DG at your school, all the other sororotieis are looking for girls they can enter in Anchor Splash (swimming races) Maybe distance running would qualify you as a good candidate for dance marathon.

Philanthropy-oriented: ever work with kids, seniors, special needs folks? Might be just what they're looking for to help out with their philanthropy.

Go on the websites for the sororities at your school, and see what their activities and philanthropies are. Believe me, "useless" talents (cartooning, calligraphy) may be seen as golden (although they didn't feel so golden when I was lettering formal bids at 5 in the morning)
