The Manchurian Candidate
The trailers for this movie freak me out! Especially that group of women in black and thier holding thier hands in front of thier faces... I have to change the channel everytime I see it. But I still want to watch them movie! Anyone else?

Read the book and saw the original movie... dunno how this modern-day retelling of the age old Commie-brainwashing-assassination plot will fare at the box office. (It's big business and not the Commies who are in the plot for the current movie.)

I saw the original movie and I thought it was excellent.
I'll probably go and see this one just to compare the 2 movies.

The original Manchurian Candidate is going to be on the local PBS channel tonight. Think I'll watch. A friend of mine was in New York while they were filming the new one and though she saw the big crowd scenes, she was bummed that she didn't get to see Denzel.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the film, I saw it yesterday at a free preview.
I have not seen the original and would like to....I try to catch it on PBS tonight......
all the leads did a wonderful job in this movie....and Meryl Streep just creeped me out....she has never played this type of role.

I LOVED the original and would normally be kicking and screaming at a remake, but I'm looking forward to this because duh, it's Denzel. I don't think he's ever been in a bad film.
And if Meryl Streep creeped you out in the mother part - Angela Lansbury plays it in the original and if you're used to seeing her as sweet & nice Jessica Fletcher it may just blow your mind.

I watched the original last night and Angela Lansbury was indeed very creepy and evil.
May have to see the new one, though.

I saw the new version, haven't seen the older version. I liked the movie, much better than the Village.

So I saw this yesterday.
While I enjoyed it, I think the original is much better. I'm not really a Denzel fan. He was good. He was Denzel.
Meryl Streep was very good, but I still think Angela Landsbury played this role best. While I think Meryl was trying not to be Angela, I just don't think she was evil enough.
I kept expecting things to happen that didn't.

I LOVE the old version of The Manchurian Candidate. I went to see the new version this week, and I must say that I think it's one of the best remakes I've ever seen. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Now that's a nice Army uniform... unless you're in the 'Third Herd' (3rd United States Infantry, 'The Old Guard') you don't see it worn very often except during formal affairs.
