In this thread we bitch about being broke

Bah

I need a J-O-B!

The reason why I'm not working is because this is the last summer I have off before I graduate and go out into the real world. I'm really enjoying doing nothing, but that comes at a price. It sucks not being able to go on road trips and eat at nicer restaurants like I used to. I guess it is time to get off my lazy ass...

So today I was reminded of the fact that I live paycheck to paycheck. "Sorry ma'am. In order to cash your paycheck we'd have to draw against your account. Presently you only have $175 and this check is for $962".
Moving has made me sooo poor & I haven't even started to buy new stuff for the place yet!

Nearly robbed the bank at the bar the other night, and while I'd usually be happy that I brought home the 'dough, I got my credit card bill the following day -- and Chicago was definitely reflected on that bill.

So much for robbing the bank.

I'm back to the less than $200 I had before and I can't do anything with that $$ or else I won't be able to eat.

Just got paid and now I have to take my puppy to the vet and spend at least $100 to get him better. There goes my night out.
But at least my pooch will get better which is much more important.

let's just say

my bank balance - my credit card debt < 0

I knew it was going to be like that for awhile after my trip, but it sucks.

I'm not broke. Not really until I start having to pay back those student loans in 3-4 years.

Then I'll have a very negative net worth.

Why is college so expensive? Shouldn't they give you a lot of scholarships (read: FREE MONEY) now so when you're an alum/na you'll want to donate?!

But when you're a wealthy alum, you won't appreciate your education as much if you didn't have to pay for it.

Well, I'm kinda broke. I know, how can you be "kinda broke"? Well, I just invented it sort of. I just quit my crappy job I had to drive 80 miles round trip to even get there and back home. It only paid $10.50 an hour so it really wasn't worth the mileage and gas for 4 hours of work. I also had to be in Charlotte, NC at 5:30 pm and didn't leave until 9:30 pm. I had to walk to the parking garage by myself and it's not that safe in uptown Charlotte, NC even though the people in uptown think their poop smells like roses. That doesn't equal safe to me, still.

Well, I have almost $4000 in savings and checking I can't spend a whole lot so I won't overdraw either account.

On top of quitting my job, I am moving to Greenville, SC to help take care of my aging grandparents. I am also applying to grad school and take the GRE or MAT. I have to pay the application and test fees, pay for my cell phone, car insurance (which isn't cheap being I live in SC where the state is in the top 3 of most car wreck fatalities and I am under 25), and health insurance. I don't think $4000 is going to last long.

I had a big hit to the budget today.... my husband called me Wednesday and his truck wouldn't start. He had to have it towed--not to the closest dealership, but to the one closest to our house (as he likes the guys there)that was about 55miles at $2 a mile. The dealership did their diagnosis-- fuel pump went out. The estimate was $790---- nice unexpected expense! On my way home from work I had to pay that bill. But the truck runs again!!!
