Sims?
Can someone please tell me a little about "The Sims"? My daughter was playing it at her friend's house and really enjoyed it so I am thinking of getting it for her birthday.
Is it software you buy? Or a download? I've heard about it, but never really paid attention until now.
Thanks!

Sims is both for the computer and gaming systems. You can buy it Best Buy, Circuit City, GameStop, etc.
In the game you can create people and run their lives (getting them a job, creating friendships/relationships, building and furnishing houses).
The website( www.thesims.com) has more detailed information and actually shows you shots from the game. I prefer playing on the computer, I bought it for my Xbox and didn't enjoy it at all.

I love The Sims - heh.
If I were you, I would hold off on getting her The Sims because The Sims 2 comes out in September or at least that's what they are saying now. When The Sims 2 goes live, The Sims will probably become obselete.
Just my opinion...

So true. I have ever expansion pack was PISSED when they came out with the deluxe editions. But, the deluxe editions don't always have all the cute stuff found in individual expansion packs.

Ditto.
If you don't want to use the space on your PC & have a PS2 (or any other gaming system) I'd suggest that instead.

<-------Still in rehab from being a SIMS addict
If i were you i would hold out until Sims 2 comes out September 16th. It's three times as better as the First Sims and you dont have to buy all the expansion packs.

I love the sims b/c it's alot like playing Barbie on the computer! you make little lives for the people, build and decorate their houses, make them fall in love, etc and it is WAY addicting. I'm a recovering sims-aholic b/c I don't have room for it on my old-ass dorm room computer.

i played SIMS on playstation. the game is irritating and entertaining at the same time. it is annoying when they have to go to work, go to the bathroom, eat, sleep, and watch tv all at the same time. it always stresses me out. but i gotta keep playing it. i need help

i too have the sims and all the expansion packs.. well except the most recent.
but i agree, wait until the sims 2 comes out! and if its too long to wait, then see if her friend has expansion packs, and is willing to let her borrow the original game.

If you get your daughter The Sims- make sure you make a contract with her limiting the hours she can spend playing.
When I was a kid the big deal was SimCity (and still is when I dont have classes!). So addicting.
The Sims was addicting when I had it, but then the hard drive crashed and I never reinstalled.
