"Go-go is one of those types of music difficult to define, but go-go fans know it when they hear it. The music is distinguished by a distinctive syncopated beat and slow tempo. Another element is the talking and gesturing between the musicians and the audience during live performances."

Go-go is a style of music created in DC in the late '70's. It's my understanding that go-go doesn't really "exist" outside of the DC area? Is this the case? Is go-go played on radio stations or in clubs anwhere else in the country?
For anyone interested, there's info about go-go on
WAMU's webpage and some go-go bands in the DC area include
Rare Essence and
Junk Yard Band.
