How awful! They didn't even get it right! I'm going to keep checking on it, if it doesn't get too expensive I'm going to buy it & send it back to Nationals!
Thanks for looking out!

Who the hell is Epsilon Kappa? At least they got the Alpha Psi part correct. I believe that pin belonged to Duke University.
Anyway, I'll be monitering this one too as I am currently the highest bidder. I'll be damned if I'll let the badge into the hands of a collector who knows nothing of its significance.

I was hoping that no one would bid on it @ all so that it would stay less expensive...5 more days is forever on eBay!
Hopefully one of us will get it!

The best method with trying to bid on badges is to just watch them till the last day.
Heres my theory on badge bidding:
The sooner you bid the more likely the price will be driven up. Once the price is driven up collecters think that it is an important/very collectable badge and are more likely to bid more on it so they win.

Maybe some helpful info for you in your badge rescue efforts...
Collectors already know whether the badge is especially important or collectable. In fact, we usually have a better sense of this than the members who are bidding. As a result, you very rarely see a collector overbid on a badge. If member bidding has pushed the badge beyond what we consider market price, we let it go.
You'll find the sellers more cooperative when they don't see you calling them stupid on a message board. Not knowing the greek alphabet does not necessarily mean a seller is stupid. Probably fewer than 5% of Americans know the greek alphabet. The other 95% surely includes doctors, lawyers, brain surgeons and rocket scientists. By contrast, plenty of greeks can recite the greek alphabet but perform in double digits on IQ tests.
Collectors are greek themselves, so they DO understand the significance of the badge. In fact, that's mainly why they collect the badges, because they appreciate the significance. Obviously most of them don't know the full ritualistic significance. But then again, a few do.
Just wanted to correct what I think are some misinterpretations. The more you know, the more effective you'll be at winning your badges.

I didn't get the impression that any of us thought this seller was stupid. Sorry if we gave you that impression. We are just interested in getting our badge back.
One thing I'm not so sure of is whether or not this seller knows what he has & how much its worth considering it originally started at $9.99. I was hoping that it stayed there so that it wouldn't be too expensive by the time it ends.

I've actually found that starting price doesn't make much difference when selling on ebay. If it's worth $100, it will get to $100 whether you start it a $1 or $99.
In fact, I found that a lower starting bid actually encourages the member-on-member bidding frenzy that drives up the price of the badge. You hook a bunch of people at the lower price and they battle each other to the end.
By contrast, when you start the bidding very high, people tend to wait until the last minute to put in the first bid. You'll probably still end the auction at a good market price, but you won't get the super-inflated price that a bid war brings.

This sister is listed in our Sisters Only section, but she's listed as "Address Unknown". So sad that these badges turn up like this.

OK, I don't usually get all worked up about badges on ebay, but this one pisses me off.

She admits she's a member selling her own badge and "it's time to let it go."

yeah, I saw the lavaliere. I kind of want that one actually, but I hate to give her my money. You'll have to let me know if she responds to your email - I really want to know what she says!
