I'm sorry to hear that. He had good visions for Illinois and America, as far as I could tell. He is the only republican that I have seen in quite some time who tried to reach out to certain "demographics" that others of that party won't. Too bad.

(and he was a cutie)

I also want to say that I think it's pretty unfortunate how his divorce record caused all of this. I had been following this since the issue first came up, before the court ruled that his records had to be unsealed. He and his wife were MARRIED and what went on during his marriage in terms of their private and initimate (sexual) matters is none of mine or the rest of the public's business.

Oh how I miss Illinois politics. I would've voted for Obama anyway.

Plus what if any of it was true and proven?

What I find to be funny in this is that during Bill Clinton's presidency, when sex came up, Democrats said it was no big deal. It had nothing to do with how he performed his job.

Now, when it surfaces in the life of a Republican, they are up in arms and declaring that because of this, he can't be a good representative.

It's kind of amazing that they can do this and keep a straight face.

Well, actually, it was mainly the older right wing, conservative Repubs who made the fuss and told him he should consider dropping the campaign. It was the Chicago Tribune that sued to have the records unsealed, too...not the Dems.

Also, like I said re: clinton, what he did should have been discussed and dealt with within his family ONLY. The same goes for Ryan. Peoples' private "affairs" should not be politicized. I understand the whole thing about the question of integrity, but there are plenty of politicians who lack integrity and it comes out in ways other than their marital situations. No one is perfect and neither of these guys, Clinton nor Ryan, should have suffered politically for such private situations in their lives.

Ah, I see, so I'm wrong...

And the Dems weren't telling their public that the sex part didn't matter -- look at what Jack Ryan is SAYING and then vote against him because of that. Right?

I know that's ridiculous, but there's little doubt in my mind really that they would have used it against him -- I'm not sure that they already haven't.

I was hoping that Rove would have Ryan assassinated and then we could elect his widow.

Widows don't lose elections.

When I read the NYTimes article, it definitely appeared to me that the IL GOP was pushing him to get out of the race. Looking at the Sun Times too, it definitely didn't seem like Dems moralizing.

But I guess that's what happens when you get your news from sources other than Fox News.

You don't think Dems wouldn't have?

Nah, I like Fox news. You see, they report, THEN, I decide.

Since I'm not a Democrat, I don't really care what Democrats WOULD have done. I'm just reporting what I read on two different news sources about what ACTUALLY happened.

The Fox News thing was a joke, BTW. See the ?
