My New Wheels
I bought a scooter today! It's a Honda Jazz (called the Honda Metropolitan I in the US):
Mine isn't yellow and white - it's orange and white. Sure, it can't go faster than 40 MPH, but it gets about 80 miles to the gallon, and it only costs about $4 to fill up the tank.
I *love* my new scooter!

I'm moving downtown and am seriously considering one of those bad boys.
Just to preserve any last ounce of my post-25 rico-suavéness though, I'd probably have to go to a full blown motorcycle.

ktsnake -if you want a more "butch" scooter, consider a Honda Silver Wing, Reflex, or Helix. The Helix is the least expensive of the three, but it has an 244cc engine - plenty powerful for long trips, and small enough not to be a huge P.I.T.A. for in-town living. http://powersports.honda.com/scooters/
You might also look at some of the larger Vespas or Piaggios.
Tom - nope, she won't go any faster than 40 MPH, but that's just fine by me. I wanted a Vespa, but it was $1500 more than what I paid for the Honda. My dream would have been a Stella though - those are beautiful machines: http://www.genuinescooters.com/

No pink, but you can get a blue and white flowered version. Some people have painted theirs as well.

I've always wanted a red Vespa, if only to wave at people as I pass them and yell, "Ciao!"
I would settle for one of the little Honda scooters in Kiwi, but somehow, I think it would fit in more at home in Florida than it would in Texas...

They just opened a Vespa store in Vancouver. I didn't even want to go by there, because I knew I'd want one too badly. The only drawback of Vespas is that they still use 2 stroke engines. You don't have to mix the gas and oil anymore, but it still pollutes more than the 4 stroke engine (a 4 stroke engine is more like a car's engine). My little Honda runs clean. I can put my hand down by the tailpipe while it's running and it won't smell like exhaust.

There's a woman in my neighborhood who has a two-tone custom pink paint job. It's pale pink/Pepto pink. I think her scooter's about 40 years old too, by the sound of it.

Correction: it's available in pink in Japan. Maybe if they become more popular, they'll make it available in North America!
