A student who admits plagiarising his way through his three-year degree course plans to sue his university for negligence after he was caught out on the day before his final exam.
Michael Gunn was told by the University of Kent at Canterbury earlier this month that a routine review of his English literature degree coursework "has revealed extensive plagiarism from internet sources".
The English department has so far decided to give "zero" marks to 13 formally assessed essays. Mr Gunn now has virtually no chance of graduating.
Mr Gunn, 21, claims that he was unaware that his activity - cutting and pasting material from the internet without attribution - constituted plagiarism and argues that the university failed to give proper guidance on accept able research techniques.

Yes please. While you're beating the crap out of him, don't forget to knock some sense into him!
Most universities have some sort of thing you have to sign at some point during your academic career where you promise not to cheat, plagarize, etc. I have to sign an honor code every time I register for classes and before important tests. They're very big about academic dishonesty here.

I want to know if he was sleeping through, staring into space or physically absent when the professors lectured on citing quotes/sources on papers. Did he skip any lessons on ethics?
Now, he can't graduate from college because of what he did. He has a debt to pay.
My question to him is: Was it worth it?

On a tangent there's a namesake of him who's a Associate Dean at my college who I've been to see a few times. 
As for this guy, he would have known very well what he was doing... the chances of winning a court case - slim.
