Weddings
Hi everybody! I have a sorority sister getting married and I was looking for an interesting way that we can recognize her at her wedding. I know some houses sing the bride and groom a song, but our house does not have a traditional wedding ritual of sorts. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

 Hey IL Sis,
If your organization does not have a formal way of commemorating weddings, why don't you make one up. Have you checked out any wedding sites? I actually did a search on keywords "wedding rituals"and came up with some interesting customs. American culture is notorious for borrowing ideas. You can assign your own meanings and perhaps your Sorority can adopt the custom.
Best of luck to you and Congrats to your sorority sister!

I hope the wedding is not here yet! My sorority has a "sweetheart" song that we sing to the bride. Other sororities encircle the bride holding hands and sing the sorority hymn or prayer. Any dignified song that is permissable to sing in public will do. Good luck

Hi IL Sis! Do you have a sweetheart song? (the kind you might sing when a sister is pinned, dropped or engaged? usually something along the lines of "she loves him, but her heart went first to XYZ"). I've seen lots of weddings where the sisters present sang that.
Also, I was at a wedding recently where, wanting to keep things light and fun, the DJ called for the bride's sorority sisters only to come out on the dance floor (this was later in the evening), and he played "We Are Family" by the Pointer Sisters (I think), and all the girls danced together and around the bride and hugged and it was SOOOO sweet.
The lyrics are perfect - "we are family, I got all my sisters with me".
If that's your style, and you don't want to create a tradition yet, it might be cute. To create a formal wedding ritual (which I think is a WONDERFUL idea), you might want to sit down with your chapter advisor and ritual chair and exec board and come up with something that the whole chapter will love.

This might be too late, but here it is anyway. For a sorority sister that gets married, usually one of us (big sis, little sis, whoever is closest to her) makes a candle. We seat her on the lap of her new husband and serenade her in a circle with our sweetheart song.

Well, we are running out of time! I guess what I need at this point is some ideas for writing a sweetheart song. We don't have one and we are not the most creative at coming up with one. If someone could send me the words to their song, if they don't mind us borrowing it, I would really appreciate it. Or even a website that has some ideas! HELP!

IL Sis - if I may, I will e-mail you some ideas! I helped a local at my school with a sweetheart song... let me know if it's okay to e-mail you!
