The Village

What does everyone think about this one? I am a pretty big M Night Shyamalan fan, and I was pretty creeped out by the trailer last night. All of his films just have a weird feel to them... 6th sense was so good...

Yeah, he was the doctor in Signs right? Who was he in the 6th sense... I forgot all about that. It is kinda like PJ casting himself as one of the soldiers during the Helm's Deep battle of The Two Towers... I would do the same. LOL...

This might be SHyamalan's creepiest movie so far though, from the looks of the trailor...

In Signs, he was the guy that killed Mel Gibson's wife on accident and had the alien in his house.

In Unbreakable, he was stadium security guard or something.

I forget what he was in 6th Sense...

I didn't know he did Unbreakable. That was the worst movie ever made.

Confused? Moi?

So yeah I haven't ever seen them in a video or heard many of their songs, wouldn't even call myself a fan by any means but I think I can safely say we've all heard of the Village People.

Bizarrely, a coupla months ago I learnt (I think through random LiveJournal browsing) that they're still touring and delighting fans; one of the original band members (the policeman I think) died; the rest and a new member are still out there teaching people it's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A. ...

In the Sixth Sense Shyamalan cameoed as the doctor who checked out Cole after those punk-ass kids locked him in the "dungeon". In Unbreakable he was the guy who Bruce Willis stopped because he suspected drugs.
Shyamalan is awesome. I loved Unbreakable. It was by far the darkest of the 3 (Signs and 6th Sense being the other two...I know he did something in '98 but I don't remember the name). The battle between good and evil. The triumph of good over evil.
I am definitely going to see "The Village". It looks like it may be good.

Just as an aside...in the end of "Unbreakable" in the scene before Bruce Willis finds out "the truth" you will see two Indian ladies walking around the gallery. They are Shaymalan's wife and daughter. I thought that was pretty cool.

Are they really? Man, can you imagine going to one of their shows?

but back to Shyamalan... I think that Unbreakable was a way in which he was able to really get the feel and overall ambiance of his films down, while still working on the storyline... It is on tonight BTW, on television. And they are having more info on the new movie like last week.

Signs was much better than people give it credit for, if you look at the use of color and everything... I don't want to sound like a film-snob. But if you see the Village trailer again, look at the way in which he uses color. Red stands out like crazy... Everything else is so neutral. It is really cool, even if you are not into films. If I were a producer or director or something, all my friends would be in my films, as like pizza guys and stuff. I guess that is why I am not a producer...

A friend of mine was an extra in Unbreakable, too. He's in the scene at the football stadium.

I'm definitely going to see this movie. I love M. Night's movies, and especially so because they're filmed right here in the good old Delaware Valley.

Definitely looking forward to seeing this one. I made the mistake of seeing Signs by myself, late at night and I won't make that mistake this time!
