			Yikes! Just one movie?
 "West Side Story"

 "Singing in the Rain"

And for pure fun, it's hard to beat "Grease."

I don't think it's a movie... but Tommy is really REALLY good.
 Other than that:
 West Side Story
 Chicago
 and of course, Grease

 | I think you're right. It started out as a "Rock Opera," then was done on stage, but I don't remember a movie.

Chicago is another obvious great one.

ETA Speaking of Rock Operas and movies, there's Jesus Christ, Superstar -- which occurred to me because our daughter opens in it tonight at a local theatre company. Her husband is directing.

 | You'll love this little bit of trivia, then: when Shirley Jones was taking acting lessons at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, she lived in the Alpha Delta Pi house - and there are several photos of her to prove it!

I like the South of Music, too, but I also liked A Chorus Line and a lot of the others mentioned. Not a fan of Grease, because it's better onstage.
