Poem for 2004 Sig Ep grads
Hi everybody
I'm graduating in May, and I've been thinking about the last four years, like a lot of seniors. I wrote this for my Sig Ep bros all over who are graduating in 2004, but it could speak about anyone's fraternity experience. Take it for what it's worth. (By the way, for those of you who don't know, the front door of Sig Ep fraternity houses have a red door. It's a tradition.)
Through the Red Door
Years have passed too quickly it seems
Just barely found a place that had only existed in my dreams
Only a freshman, I was lost in the crowd
Now a senior, I’ve found my voice, so loud
Found it behind the Red Door, with those of the Heart
All together they showed me how to make a good start
Had so many memories with these brothers I’ve come to know
Had so much fun, good times just seemed to flow
I’ve been carried through the Red Door, wits gone on the wind
I’ve carried my brothers through the Red Door, knowing I’ll do it again
I’ve walked through the Red Door with my spirit soaring to the sky
I’ve walked through the Red Door feeling like I just wanted to cry
But whenever I walked through the Red Door, I knew I’d come home
That I was accepted because of the friendship I’d shown
Now I pass through one last time, because all good things must end
I’m wondering what now waits for me round the next bend
I must go out to face a new world, go out like the tide
Through the Red Door, I know it’s going to be a hell of a ride
-To all my brothers in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Class of 2004
