Should a private university be able to make this type of decision?
Baylor Lariat
What do you guys think? Should a private religious university be able to revoke scholarships for whatever reason? It is a Christian university and all students are aware of its stance on "non-Christian" like behaviors (or what they feel are non Christian like behaviors). Should these students respect the beliefs of the private institution and simply move on without discussion or should the school be required to accept all people regardless of their sexuality, even if they don't agree?
Please note that I'm not making an argument that homosexuality is a non-Christian behavior, I'm saying that the school (leadership) feels that way.

I don't think homosexuality is a christian behavior . . but its not a behavior that bothers me.
As far as shoulds and woulds . . schools should be tolerant i agree. . .
However it is a private school . . so it has a lot of latitude on what it can do.

Homosexuality isn't a behavior...I don't think you can turn it off and on like a light switch, but...
I thought private universities could pretty much do what they darned well pleased. If that's the case, then students who choose to go there need to play by the school's rules or pick another school.

Unless that program is funded by a government agency, yes, Baylor has the right to that.

I would think that private schools would have the right to exclude those who would not follow their "honor code" or whatever you call it. Just look at Liberty College, and what they get away with!
(I can tell this since I'm a Baptist!)
Q: Why don't Baptists believe in having sex while standing up?
A: It may lead to dancing!

It's Baylor's right. They are a private institution and can do whatever they damned well please.
Right or wrong in this case is for them to decide. Individuals can judge for themselves, but something tells me Baylor isn't going to be very interested in what anyone has to say.
It's a Baptist University and the Baptist church ain't the most pro-gay institution out there. Perhaps these kids should go enroll elsewhere.

Shouldn't the header be "three things about religion that aren't recognized" since Christianity is just a disortion of the Jewish faith?

True, but they're very likely to lose their 501(c)(3) status (i.e. their tax exempt status....... not something they want to lose). Kind of like Bob Jones University.
