There are many hotels in NYC. It depends on your budget. Here is the NYC tourism website. You might be able to find an affordable hotel there. Good luck!
I went last year and spent a week in 2 different hostels. They were both in ok neighbourhoods and both were clean - but not many folks are used to hostels...
But I just realized that I forgot their names - I know one was on the upper east side - not far from museum mile, and the other was up in Harlem... (i think we found them of the NYC tourism site anyway)
