Which Honorary or Famous Member Do You Most Admire?
Memberfriends and Sisterfriends, out of all of Alpha Kappa Alpha's illustrious famous and honorary members, whom (I think that is grammatically correct) do you admire most? I would have to say Star Jones because she has accomplished so much and is so vibrant and fabulous! I love watching her on The View and I was even more in awe of her when I found out she once held a position in the National Directorate of Alpha Kappa Alpha. She just continues to excel in everything she does and I just cannot wait until she gets her own show!!!! Right after Star would have to be Maya Angelou and Sharon Pratt Kelly(Dixon). BTW,Memberfriends, is she in any way related to Nellie Pratt Russell?

I would have to say Maya Angelou because she is a major inspiration in my life. I'm inspired by her life story, as I've read all of the works which come together as her autobiography. She encourages me to achieve in life. When I read about all the trials and tribulations that she has confronted in her lifetime and I think about how she never let these hindrances keep her from acheiving her dreams, I become filled with admiration and determination to do the same in my own life. I've been a huge fan of hers since childhood; she's always inspired me to work hard and to dream. When I learned that she was also a lovely lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., I knew that there was a connection between us because I also aspire to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is an AKA in every sense. Knowing that Maya is a part of this most distinguished sorority only confirms my decision to seek AKA as a way of life.

Star Jones is definitely high on my list. Like ENDROAD said, I admire her accomplishments because I would also like to practice law someday. I also have a strong admiration for Maya Angelou, Dr. Mae Jemison, Coretta Scott King, Sharon Pratt Kelley, Rosa Parks, and nearly every other member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., that is heavily involved in government, law, and politics.

It is defintely Star Jones, as a former brooklyn assistant district attorney i've been fortunate enough to have spent time with her at various events-ladies, she is not only beautiful and intellligent-but she is also warm and a true sisterfriend and soror.
on another note, i noticed a few postings mentioning the desire to practice law-if i can be of assistance to anyone let me know(questions/advice) i've been out for alittle over 3 years!

I'd have to say Eleanor Roosevelt and Mae Jemison.
Since I was little I wanted to be an astronaut. Now that I'm older and realize there is no way in hell i can do the math and such that's involved with aeronautics, I admire Dr. Mae Jemison for all her hard work in breaking through that field.
I truly respect Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt for her dedication to the rights of all people including her soror Marian Anderson. I wonder were Roosevelt and Anderson members at the time when she asked Anderson to sing at the Lincoln Memorial. (I'm getting my pen now and ready to search away ) But her strength of character during war time abroad and racial war at home. She was a pilar of strength to both aspects of this community. A
