Who went to DLC?
Who attended DLC? What do you think of the changes to TME and Philanthropy?

I LOVE the new changes to TME (New Member Ed.) and Standards, but I think saying "LionShare Challenge" is going to be a bit too wordy. I suppose we'll see when we have our next event for RMH...

I really liked the Philanthropy changes, but I think that "Lion Share Challenge" isn't a very catchy name. I thought the changes to Standards were good, but I'm a little iffy on some of the New Member Education stuff.

I'm really excited about this stuff!
I like the Lion Share Challenge, but like any new program, we'll see as time goes on, what will happen.
Fun Fact: One of the names on the table originally was Roll For Ronald... Makes LSC a lot cooler, eh?!
I think the changes to TME are EXTREMELY positive!!!! The alphas will have online tutorials and then come to alpha ed for enrichment activities, like getting to know one another, learning about what it means to respect ADPi and one another, bonding, and a deeper understanding of membership, rather than cramming a lot of information for a test. I have heard the complaint from a lot of chapters that 6 weeks is too short, the alphas lack comprehension of respect for the sorority, etc... And I think the Balanced Person program will help our members become more well-rounded with programming that is tailored to your year in school, and teaching you life skills that you can carry with you for all time. I can't wait to see how it goes. The response at DLC 6 was really positive on that one.
And hey, standards--- 17 forms to 8 forms! Let's hear it for clearing out the clutter!
ETA: Just remember, we are constantly looking at our programming and seeing what is working, and what isn't. If there's reason for change it will come about. Change is good. It is what makes us First & Finest!!!!

Would you mind posting a summary of the changes that were made to TME/Philanthropy/Standards, so those of us who weren't at DLC understand what you're talking about? Thanks!

exciting changes!
Here we go:
1) Changes to standards are minimal and more of an operational thing-- when we're signing our standards agreement as collegians, and some reduction of paperwork. Informal Meetings will now be called a Standards Council Meeting. We've also made some updates regarding accounts receivable, and putting accountabilty on members to pay their dues on time. There is a revised section to the standards code about Health and Wellness. Overall, we're placing more emphasis on the members being accountable, rather than Exec having to chase anyone down.
2) Philanthropy: Alpha Delta Pi has launched a signature program a la DG Anchor Splash. The name of the program is the Lion's Share Challenge. There is an official logo to this program, and it is adaptable to suit events that are already being done by chapters and associations. This doesn't mean ADPi's will stop doing programs they are known for locally, like Zeta Omega's Flaggin Down the Fun, or Alpha Chi's ADPicnic, etc. It's designed to promote ADPi's committment to RMH and philanthropy and allows for creativity within each chapter/assoc.
Also, per convention, RMHC is rolling out a fleet of Care Mobiles-- vehicles that act as a doctor's office on wheels to give care to rural and impoverished areas. ADPi has adopted one of these Care Mobiles, and our logo will be prominently displayed on the one @ U Mass. We have pledged to raise $150K over the next 3 years. This will be supported through donations made through the Foundation and out of our Signature Program.
Remember to donate all philanthropy money through the Foundation so your chapter receives credit and recognition!
3) TME. The TME Task Force has been evaluating our TME programming and is implementing changes. To begin, we must understand the college student today learns a little differently than the college student of 10-13 years ago, when TME began. Starting in the fall, alpha education tutorials will be available online. Alphas will do these online tutorials and complete an online quiz prior to alpha ed. They will bring a print out (aka certificate of completion) to the NMC. Rather than presenting material for the first time, alpha ed will be a time to review the material and the majority of the session will be spent with bonding activities and discussions on respect for ADPi, what it means to be a good friend, understanding ADPi policies, etc. In lieu of the International Exam (which all members will continue to take prior to officer elections), alphas will have an initiation exam that is part multiple choice (on the computer) and part fill in the blank. The idea is that there is less hard memorization (ie: the fax line to EO!) and more understanding of what is means to BE an ADPi. The MEVP will lead the New Deltas post-initation in a New Delta education series to help further integrate them into chapter life. This will go even bigger in the following year, when we integrate TME for each year of college-- there will be specific programming targeted to sophomores, a specific set for juniors, etc. Each year's programming will be tailored to benefit women of that year in school and give them skills and information necessary to help them be successful (ie: Juniors might get assistance with resume writing, getting an internship, etc. Sophomores might have workshops on balancing a checkbook and credit cards, eating healthy, time management, leadership, etc. Seniors would have a Back To Basics- why I joined ADPi, alumn life, etc.)
I'm really thrilled with these developments. We hear all the time that 6 weeks is a very quick period in which to understand ADPi, and become an initiated member. This will give alphas an opportunity to understand the fuller meaning of membership and getting to know the chapter better. Also, the continuing education series will ensure that we're providing life skills to help our members succeed in college and beyond, and hopefully will support member retention by having focused programming that is tailored to them.

You can be part of it! Philanthropy definitely impacts our alum! And I am sure you would be a great addition to any of our international task forces or chapter advisory boards to support TME!

I'm trying...we'll see how it goes! I've offered my help to one of the local chapter's advisor in any way that I can, so we'll see if I hear back from her

This is all really making me look forward to getting into grad school so I can join up with an alum assoc. and try to help out a chapter. Now I just need to get into grad school so I can see where I am moving to.

That is almost completely correct. The standards program is in effect now, the philanthropy can be started as chapters & associations plan new events. However, if they currently have something planned, they do not have to incorporate the new logo/theme until next time. Most of the TME programming won't be rolled out until 2005, and even then it will be phased in. I think PO is a better place to discuss things such as our standards program, and really anything that isn't finalized yet, such as our TME curriculum. A lot of great ideas about TME are in the works, but it's still being written.

It was my understanding, from the D-3 DLC session for MEVP's, that the TME changes are going into effect this fall, with the 2004-05 school year.
I think ALL the changes are AWESOME!!!!!
