Wallace Going To Piston?

Look like Rasheed Wallace is heading to the Piston. I thought that he was going to the Knicks.

Here is the latest rumor for the Knicks:

Eric Dampier & Nick Van Exel to the Knicks for Kurt Thomas, Dikembe Mutombo and Shanon Anderson.

As for the Rasheed trade:

Boston gets: Chucky Atkins, Lindsey Hunter and the Pistons first round pick this year.

Detroit gets: Rasheed Wallace and Mike James

Atlanta gets: Chris Mills, Zeljko Rebraca, Bob Sura and the Bucks first round pick owed to Detroit.

sounds like a solid salary dump for the Knicks (although i'm unfamiliar with van exel's contract). dampier is having a good year, so he'd be a good addition in the middle.

i know boston has held chris mills' contract as a bargaining chip for a while; he's injured and is a way to free up cap space for another team. they don't get much in the deal though (the pistons draft pick will likely be late in the 1st round, and hunter and atkins don't add much). you have to wonder what ainge is thinking.

I know Van Exel would rather be with the Mavericks right now. Trading Chucky Atkins would hurt the Pistons big time. Atkins and Hamilton work well together. i would like to see Dampier go to the Pistons. he'll be a big help in the Middle( Not that I'm complaining about Big Ben Wallace, But it'll free him up to do some real serious damage on the Pistons' Opponents.)

I like the trade for Rasheed. The pistons didn't have to give up any core players to get him and this will only make them better this year. It also frees up a bunch of cash to re-sign Mehmet this off season.

What I understand, Rasheed is going to be a FA at the end of the season. From all the reports I have read, Rasheed is keen on becomming a knicks. The pistons has done a great job in releasing a lot of their salary cap. I believe they have about $20 million to play with for free agents.

$20 million sounds like a good number. I can't wait when Detroit plays Indiana. Should be fun.

'Sheed and Artest? battling for playoff positioning?

You're right, should be classic.

Sheed and Ben Wallace? That's a DANGEROUS front court.
