Shady situation involving a coach and a student....

This was posted on my A&M forum today..

Quote:
My neighbor across from me is a sip and just a real ***** in general. He and his wife are teachers and he is a track coach of some sort for Northwest High School. Anyway, I have noticed a car and a young looking girl over there a lot when the wife isn't home. I got curious and noticed the parking sticker on the car was a Northwest Student sticker.
Friday night she ended up staying the night. She left about 10 am and the wife pulled up about an hour later. I ended up outside taking pictures of my puppy in the snow and took some pics of the car covered with snow in front of the house. Here's my delima - do I let the situation go? do I tell the wife? do I go to the school with this?
I really do hate this ***** and my initial reaction was to take this to the school but I thought it better to seek the advice of Texags.

and i wanted to get y'all's opinions on it.

I personally think that the poster needs to take whatever evidence he has to an adminstrator at the school.

I agree, especially if that girl may be underage.

Totally inappropriate response, but....

for fun he should show the wife pictures of the puppy playing in the snow.

"Look at these cute pictures of my puppy!" etc. etc.

See if the wife notices the car or anything.

In reality though, it's hard to know what to do. I don't think it should be ignored, because even if she is 18, if she's a high school student where the coach works, she's off limits. End of story. However, if it's reported to the school, it stays on his employment record as a report whether he's guilty or not.

I would try to gather more info...find out what year is on the parking permit, get a license number and see who it's registered to (probably in the parent's names, though), etc.

Of course, I'm a wannabe spy anyway, so......

He needs to tell the school administration. Even if that student THINKS she knows what she's doing; she doesn't. Coach knows this and is taking advantage. That's not right.

I agree with everyone else. He really should go to an administrator.

Before running to an administrator it would be a good idea to make some attempt to confirm his suspicions. If he goes to the school with this it could do a great deal of damage, and he doesn't seem to know what the situation really is. What if the girl is his daughter and she doesn't have a good relationship with his wife? What if she's an alum? There is no telling what the situation is, and he could do some serious damage to the man's career (unless he has tenure) without any cause.

Talk to the girl.

Never, and I mean never, should a teacher cross the line and have relations with a student. Nothing good can come of it and in the long run it could lead to more problems. I've seen it first hand with two seperate instances.

If this trend continues, the neighbor owes it to the school system and others to reveal what they know.

Something very similar happened at my school when I was there, and the neighbor ended up telling the Mrs. who started keeping track of her husband. With her information and the neighbor's information, the teacher was fired. But the backlash also took hold of the young student's life as well. She was ridiculed and made fun of at school. I can't imagine what it was like for her, because she had a scorned reputation.

The scary thing is, when dealing with these accusations, is that if nothing WAS going on, the reputations of TWO people are forever ruined. However, if there is something going on, it needs to be stopped because it could snow-ball into something worse, and who knows if he's holding grades over their heads for favors or worse.

On a more personal level, a very close family friend who was my younger two siblings' teacher, was arrested a little over a year ago with charges of sexual molestation and fondeling of two boys. It devistated my family to know that this happened under our nose...and the person we trusted did this. The teacher was finally convicted this fall, and his life is ruined. But thankfully these two boys came forth and prevented this man from doing it to others!

THAT is what I mean by situations snow-balling...who is to say THIS man will stop with this young girl?

There's a "Business Opportunity" here....J/J

I agree 100% with Hootie's post!

BUT, what if it's some "Hot Mamma" or older sister who borrowed the car? lovelyivy84 makes a good point about trying to confirm it.

From a moral standpoint, maybe you should let someone know.

On the other hand, would it be a great idea to even get involved in something like this?

You know what's sad?

I went to that forum to read what others had to say about the subject, and the majority jumped down the poster's throat saying, MYOB! What happened to looking out for the welfare of others and your neighbor? Granted this isn't looking out for the neighbor's welfare...but you get my point.

Do we REALLY live in a MYOB world??? So very sad. I'm not saying people should be keeping tabs on their neighbor's business 24/7! But if it smells like a dog, and barks like a dog, then it's probably a dog!

This same thing was rumored to have gone on at my high school, but I don't think anyone knows for sure and if they do, nothing was ever openly said or done about it. Who knows. It's wrong for teachers and students to have relationships like that and it should be stopped if it's going on, but then, it'd be awful to accuse people of something they didn't do. Bottom line, I guess, is if you know something's going on that shouldn't be, tell. Otherwise...find out before you start talking.

He should mind his own business sheez.

The guy's a fricking stalker with too much time on his hand. He is not looking out for his neighbor he hates him lol . . he admitted as much.

The only thing I would worry about in a situation like this is whether the girl were udner the age of consent.

In this case, since the age of consent is 17 in Texas, and she drives and has possession of a car its unlikely she is under the legal age.

Now even if the girl is a student at that high school, say a senior, their supposed relationship wouldn't necessarily be ilegal, especially if he is not directly her teacher or her coach. It would depend on how the law is worded in her state.

In this circumstance you would be getting involved merely because you dissaproved at the risk of really fucking up two people's lives.

I would be really hesistant to do that . . you guys don't seem to be.

On a tangential note, an administrator told me about a student that dated a teacher in high school . . he was forced to resign because of it, but they got married and are still married 20 years later. Go figure.

I would tell the guy not to get involved.

There could be many things going on here.
