I'm not feeling Mrs. Hill's Fade. I know she had to cut the dreds off to start over...I just didn't like it.

I didn't like her hair due either or the outfit that Camille Cosby had on; however, I thought that Star Jones and Maxine Waters looked ravishing. Yolanda & Donnie sounded good as usual. D.L & Steve are still the funniest . I'm glad they were the host.

Question: how do u all feel about women w/ muscles wearing evening wear (after 6 attire)? I'm specifically thinking about Venus and Serena..

Not a problem with me... but if Star can wear that white outfit (although her makeup was fabulous ) then Serena and Venus have open season! Now what happened to Lauryn's hair??? I did'nt see that part! It's not bad, is it?

Cool

The whole show was WONDERFUL. There were funny moments (Steve & D.L. did a pretty good job hosting, and S.L. Jackson jamming to 'so fresh & so clean' was off the hook!)...inspiring moments, touching moments (the 4 mothers and their stories had me crying). I think that this show really did a good job in putting us in a favorable light!

In response to Dreamful One's question about muscular women in evening attire, well, realistically, what are they supposed to wear?? Should they NOT wear evening gowns simply because they have well developed muscles? To me, that is like saying that a plus size woman shouldn't wear an evening gown because she doesn't fit society's standard of a normal woman's size. It shouldn't even be an issue. I thought Venus and Serena looked wonderful.

I wasn't saying they looked horrible or that they shouldn't have worn it I was just asking how do the rest of you feel. I didn't list my opinion before.

When I posted, I was just voicing my opinion...I wasn't directing it towards you as if you thought they looked horrible! If my response came off like that, then I apologize!

First of all there were a few jacked up outfits and hair-do's. Lauryn looked like Tracy Chapman. And Lauryn is usually so cute. Camille should go back to the short cut. Susan Taylor's dress looked like a set of drapes. Venus looked marvelous while Serenas dress looked as if she made it herself right before the show. None the less their hair and make up was on point. That last mother who spoke was so powerful. I called my sister and she was boo hooing like a baby over it. Maxine Waters has put on a pound and it looks so good on her. None the less -- the show was excellent. All award recipients were very deserving.
MY FAVORITE OUTFIT OF THE EVENING AWARD GOES TO...IMAN!

Yeah, I saw a pic of her last month when she became the topic of dicussion at nappyhair.com. I almost fell out of my seat. I loved those locs.

In the pic I saw this April she almost BALD. I see it grew a little before the taping. I wonder what she is going to do with it next...if she decides to do anything at all.

Hey, at least I liked the song!

I couldn't even concentrate on Lauryn Hill's song because I was so shocked about her appearance. I want to know what happened. She must be going through some things to be looking like that. If I had turned into the program in the middle of her performance, I probably wouldn't have know it was her.

To answer the question posed: I think physically fit women can wear evening attire. I don't see anything wrong with it. Makes me want to lift some weights. I think this relates to something that was said in another topic- "if you are going to be in the public eye then present yourself well". Venus and Serena's profession calls for them to be in shape, so they can wear whatever-in my opinion.

Overall I thought the show was very enjoyable and represented African Americans to the fullest.
