We always like to watch greek themed movies. At out last sisterhood sleepover, we watched a movie called 'Pumpkin' with Christina Ricci, it's kind of weird but it was funny anyways. I'd recommend it for a sisterhood event

Legally Blond
Bring it On
Any John Hughes movie
Those are good for us, plus just dumb girlly movies. Plots aren't great for us cause we tend to never shut up but those are some classics

We watched "Bring it on Again" (direct to video sequel!) during pre-recruitment, and it was hilariously awful. "Bomb diggity" mangaged to work its way into our skit several times as a result of that movie.

"Steel Magnolias" is a favorite. It does have the sad story line, but it provides a sweet example of a sisterhood by way of friendships.

This'll sound strange...
But the movie "Set it Off" would be an excellent movie to watch at a sisterhood event.
Mainly because it brings a different perspective to the notion of sisterhood than most people will be familiar with, and even though they did some very shady (and highly illegal) things in the movie, you never doubt the love they have for each other.

Steel Magnolias is definitely a Phi Mu favorite. The story of the lead character (Shelby played by Julia Roberts) is based on the story of a real Phi Mu (Susan Harrington).

I second "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." We watched it during our house retreat - hilarious! Although then the song gets stuck in your head. Sigh. Some other movies that aren't really "sisterly" but fun to watch with any big group of girls - Dirty Dancing, Princess Bride, and Ever After.

It has been out for a while, but Beaches is FABULOUS in its portrayal of how 2 very diverse women live their lives & grow, how the relationsip has tremendous ups and downs, but in the end when it really counts, there is no friend like a girlfriend! Bette Midler & Barbara Hershey.

Do they have to be based around sisterhood??
I can think of some movies in which female friendships are a dominant theme:: Waiting to Exhale, maybe Fast Times of Ridgemont High, Clueless, My Best Friend's Wedding, Steel Magnolias, maybe even a couple of eps of Sex and the City.
If not, and you're just lookin' for good movies, here's what you need to consider...
Do you want a movie which you can just throw and you know it's gonna lighten the mood, make everyone feel happy...? i.e Sweet Home Alabama, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, the Legally Blond's, maybe even Sleepless in Seattle, or Where The Heart Is...
Or do you want a movie you can watch for the boys!? I know I always like to watch sexy guys in a film...i.e Pirates of the Carribean, Oceans Eleven, oohhh and White Squal, that's fab! (Ryan Phillippe looks SO good!).. and personally I LOVE The Bodyguard.... how hot is Kevin Costner!?
You could even go for a horror like Scream, I Know What you did Last Summer, The Craft, The Ring... anything old like Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street scares the hell out of me, so I wouldn't recommend those as much, but then it's your event!
What might be fun is to go for something like Stand By Me... it may be about four guys, but it's a fab film, in fact one of my fave of all time, and is all about friendship.
Well that's my lot!
