According to YOU, what is the State of the Union?

Tonight, George W will present the annual "State of the Union" address to the nation. According to YOU, what is the "state of the union"?

A state of the union address implicitly states what it is in the name. The president should talk about all major issues concerning the country we live in

1) The Fiscal stability of the country
2) The current status of our government
3) Domestic Issues
4) International issues that directly effect the country
5) Any new special programs he wishes to address
6) Current Bills and Legislation that impacts America Day-to-Day Activity
7) Close by stating long-term goals for the country.

Anything else it to me is fluff. i.e. feel good stories and stuff like that.

Well, let's see:
Unemployment is up
The stock market is down (again)
All of our discretionary money is being spent in other countries so too bad for the homeless folk
And Chicago was just named the murder capital

Not looking too good, I'd say.

You have got that one right! This state of the Union is going to be another format for G.W.B to lie to us again...maybe we will invade Canada this time.

I don't even want to hear it. Since he has been President, the State of the Union has received some of its worst ratings ever. Why listen? I really don't believe much that he says anyway.

It is really hard to believe anything that he says when he can't even say nuclear corretly!!! It is NUCLEAR not NUCULAR!!! That is like nails on the chalkboard to me!

I am sorry but stupidity is not a winning trait in my world leaders...

Well, I actually hear US Senators on CSPAN refer to Nuclear as NUCULAR. Color me reactionary, but I don't think you should vote on anything involving words you can't pronounce.

Can we get a consensus on this one way or another before we do drop the bomb (if and when)? I'd hate to have my last few minutes on Earth mired in a syntax discrepency.

I remember when St. Louis was named murder capital and at that time my mom was still on the police force. She went to a speaking engagement for law enforcement and they introduced her as "and now from the murder capital of the world..."

The Union address is to address the State of affairs with the united states. Now I loved me some Clinton, but one address he introduced all those people and the told stories, and the people get to clappin' , those thing can last sooooo long. I cannot see myself at a state of the union speech.
