A moment of Gamma Phi greatness

A moment of Gamma Phi greatness:

Marianne can finally do Flip Flop correctly.

She has been coached for several months to get over her clumsiness.

This has been a moment of Gamma Phi greatness.

We are the Gamma Phi Betas, we're here...

Congratulations, you've got half of Gamma Omega beat!

I loved seeing Flip-Flop done at RLC, and I'm sure it'll be even more fun at Convention.

Also, I'm taking a poll:

Does your chapter

(a) end the song with "welcome you here....GAMMA...PHI....BETA..."

or

(b) end the song with "welcome you here...Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta GIRLS!"

My chapter does (b), but another chapter I visited, as well as the other 3 chapters in WI, do (a). I think my chapter might be a reject again, but I'm just curious.

-GP, who can do flip-flop BOTH WAYS but had to learn by making her SigEp boyfriend practice with her. He could also do all the movements to "I Love the Crescent Moon."

Whenever I've done it, it's been neither. It just ends with "welcome you here".

we do it once singing with the (b) ending, once with the motions with the (b) ending, and the last one faster with the (a) ending - except we say "welcome you... GAMMA.... PHI.... BETA... Gamma Phi!"

We've always done option b...lol...and there's one of the guys in Pi Lamb here who can do it better than most of the sisters (he was our G Phi guy for a few years).

The easiest way that I found to teach it to new members though is by breaking it up into groups of three...everything is done in threes...

this may shock everyone but we don't know how to do the flip flop here in canada. i have seen it done in michigan once at the beta house, and my friend and i were the only 2 (both Cdn) that didn't know how to do it. so some of the ladies showed us how but it sure was confusing!!
do you use this during recruitment and if so when? as in which round?
we learned a new cheer at the Cdn Initiative ( i have Gamma phi beta in my h-e-a-r-t....) but i don't think they did the flip flop.
interesting....

My chapter didn't have formal recruitment, so we'd just use it during one of our rounds to show the girls. We'll also use it at parents day and serenades and that type of thing.

My collegiate chapter generally does flip flop during the philanthropy round of recruitment. We do a camping theme and everyone is sitting on the floor on top of blankets and sleeping bags and at some point during the party, the sisters all stand up and make a circle around the potential new members and do flip flop for them.
