Edited Videos
Hello All:
My parents are devout Christians and in light of this their entertainment is limited to rated G, PG, and occasionally PG13 rated movies. We all know that most of the movies that come out these days are rated R for violence, language and sexual content. I wanted to know if any of you have any information on where I may purchase edited VHS movies for them to see. I feel that they are missing out on good movies such as The Green Mile and others with R ratings. It takes such a long time for these movies to be aired on network television. I would gladly appreciate any web links or information on where edited videos may be found. Thank you.

I've never used their services before but I found this website that specializes in that exact thing.

Hope this helps. I may use it myself. My mother is the exact same way. I think the last movie that I recommended to her was "Mr. Holland's Opus".

Question...
Whatever happened to waiting? We had to wait for the movies to come on tv, back in the day. I know times have changed, but what's the rush?

Same here. I still haven't seen "Porky's', "Revenge of the Nerds", "Fast Times at Ridgemount High", etc. All my friends used to talk about the funny parts and I was clueless. And you know how far "but so-and-so's mom let her watch it" will get you.
I just saw "The Day After", the movie about the aftermath of a nuclear war. When it came out on TV back in the 80's, my grandma wouldn't let me watch it. She said it was not for children and that I would have nightmares. Boy, was she right. It freaked me out when I saw it th other day on USA.
I think it's good though that there is that option. But waiting never hurts.

As soon as I catch a break, I will. My honey can not believe I have never seen it.
Anyway, I'll bring up this thread after I watch it and let you know what I thought.

This is not "back in the day". If such forms of edited media are available now, why should we have to wait? If I talk to friends or co-workers or even get online on a message board such as this one and everyone is talking about current movies, what am I going to do, wait 2-3 years for the movie to premiere on network tv, then bring the thread back up? My parents would like to stay current just like everyone else, simply without the bad elements of the movies being included. It is a long enough wait for them to come out on videos.. I mean really.

Mizzkes,
My gram is a devout Jehovah's Witness. Whoa you wanna talk about "uhh uhh none of that in here." its all good though. sometimes what i did was bring movies over and when i knew it had a questionable part, I would fast forward over it. hey i mean it was all i could do at the time. now mind you i wasn't bringing over movies like player's club or nothing like that....but i mean even movies like soul food had questionable content, but i did my own "editing" and she still enjoyed it. and no i don't feel you should have to "wait". do people say OOh ya'll gonna go see XYZ this friday when it comes out? or do they say "noo i am just gonna wait two years from now when it comes on NBC". (well for some movies you might )
I feel you on wanting your parents to remain current. I am still trying to teach my gram how to use the internet. Maybe you could even get into editing your won tapes, just a sugesstion

Girl I feel you. Can you believe I JUST saw "Set it Off". *lol* I was trying to talk about the movie to a girlfriend of mine and ended up feeling stupid because she couldn't remember the damn thing! I hate that.
Personally I didn't know that you could buy edited tapes, but that's helpful to know (I know many people with small children).

Meeks- My parents are Jehovah's Witnesses, what a coincidence. So, I know that you are feeling what I am saying. I have also done the fastforward-through-the-bad-parts thing. It is just so much more convenient to have an edited video.
On the link that AlphaXiGirl posted, they have a service available so that the consumer can edit their own videos. I am going to look into that.
Poplife- I am feeling you girl. It took me so long to see "What's Love Got To Do With It"...I was out of the loop.
