Cosmo Article

So did anyone see the article in Cosmo, kinda toward the end about the girl who got "asked to resign" from her sorority ?

Appearantly she was already on social probation because of being a little shall we say "foward" with a gentleman at a bar ealier in the semester. They get back from break and are out again and a guy buys her a shot, that's the last thing she remembers appearantly, next morning she wakes up in his room with no pants on. She asks him what happened, he says "oh we were both really drunk, we were gonna get it on, but you passed out in the closet and I couldn't move you." she... (like an idiot in my opinion) believes him, thinks nothing of it until she is called to her chapters standards board again.... and they ask her lots of questions and tell her that his fraternity is saying that all the brothers saw a video of her and this guy gettin' it on broadcast through the whole house. She tries to fight back but no evidence can be found to support her... so she now is no longer a sister of her sorority... ( I would say what sorority, but if you really want to know you can find Cosmo and read it because I feel it's irrelevant)
But yeah talk about more bad greek press, I mean... I'm not even sure that her affiliation even needed to be included in the article !! I mean the only reason this article shoudl've been in cosmo, IMO is to make sure if something like this happens to a woman that she goes IMMEDIATELY to the hospital and gets some help; for that point to be made it doesn't need to be known she was an XYZ....

Ok so I don't read Cosmo. . .

Ok so i don't read cosmo. . .
However, I think it's funny that the press has to continually sensationalize storys about the greek community. I mean if she was kicked out of the sewing club or something it wouldn't even be in Cosmo, but the fact that it was a sorority makes it worth sensationalzing(is this a word)?!? Anyways, I feel really bad for this girl, but she has to have some common sense as well, putting herself in a situation where she doesn't really know where she is etc. (the alcohol) is not very intelligent in the least sence. Sorority women are supposed to uphold standards in their house, and it sounds as if she wasn't living the life of a lady. So I suppose I can see why her sisters would vote her out. Thats my 2 cents, based on the little bit of information I know.

Are you sure that it's this month's Cosmo?

I'm pretty sure Cosmo ran that article already. I know I remembered reading it, maybe it was another magazine. I know there has been a discussion on here about it during the summer.

I will find the thread.

ETA: I'm back and here's the link http://forums.greekchat.com/gcforums...ighlight=Cosmo

It was in a summer edition of Cosmo Girl. Way to recycle old articles Cosmo

I read through the other thread and can not believe it. I too agree that being greek has nothing to do with the story.

However, NO ONE mentioned how out of line the guys were for videotaping her was and barely anyone mentioned that she could have NOT been drunk, she could have just been drugged. Stone cold sober but drugged.

Sure, she might not be the most self respecting of people and had already a soiled "reputation" but these guys need to be blamed as well. It sounds like she was raped to me.

Stories like these make me not miss college nor sorority life at all.

I don't put a lot of faith or money into Cosmo. Why is it that they have (okay this is only an example) 98 pages of BE HONEST, BE TRUTHFUL, BE TODAY'S WOMAN, BE WHOMEVER YOU WANT TO BE

and on pages 98 and 99, boob creme to make you 4 sizes larger in 2 hours or other )stupid, untrue ads (of course, that helps pays for the other 98 pages.

On those extremely rare occasions that I do look at Cosmo, I either read it at the library or the bookstore while browsing

Thumbs down

ughhh.... cosmo... i ABHOR that magazine, its nothing but trash trash trash. sadly, the writers of cosmo have women's liberation and feminism mistaken for random one-night stands and sex tips. i dont think i have seen one even remotely intelligent article in that magazine, ever. then again i rarely read it other then to scoff at it.

also, i remember seeing that article elsewhere as well, i think it was in one of those teeny mags, like cosmogirl.

*edited bc i have terrible grammar.

It was printed in an issue of Cosmogirl. Either the August or September issue.

And even then, their sex tips are old and recycled. Perhaps it was revolutionary 35 years ago, but it's just a joke now. I laugh at my roommate for subscribing to it.
