Red face Fedup with FedEx

Suggestions please on how to handle this!

Fedex "delivered" a [ackage to my front door at 10:28 pm. Fri. left without ringining the doorbell. Said package was not there when I looked Sat. morning.

Called Fedex and operator said she would send a note to the delivery terminal....have not heard a word.

Have any of you had something "delivered" by Fedex but you never saw it???

Unfortunately, it's a Christmas present for hubby, fortunately, I put it on my credit card.

Thanks for any suggestions on how to get Fedex to pay for a replacement.

I had this problem a couple of years ago. I checking the tracking number and it showed the box arrived. I called FedEx and complained. They called back the next day and said they missed scanned the box, it was still in Memphis and to give it another day. Sure enough it arrived the next day.
Good luck getting everything straightened out!

That happened to one of my sorority sisters. Someone stole a package that her mother had sent to her. It contained personal items which couldn't be replaced.

Did you hear about the FedEx plane crashing in Memphis? I saw it myself...it crashed on the runway and burned. The crew escaped, but to see a large plane catch fire like that is very very scary.

Perhaps it would be best to call HQ. Every experience I've had with FedEx has been stellar. They got my PowerBook to me in a matter of days (it was manufactured in Taiwan), and everything else has been excellent.

A lot of the time, the credit card will eat the cost of something like this for you. If FedEx doesn't come through, call the credit card company and let them know that you never actually received the merchandise.

I'm not sure why you are "fed up" with FedEx - based on what you say, I'm not yet convinced it's their fault.

Every time I've ever gotten a FedEx or UPS package which didn't require a signature, they just left it by the door. For the ones that did require a signature, they'd leave me a notice if I wasn't home.

It could be a scanning or delivery mistake....and it could also very well be that your item got stolen. It's Christmastime - just the time of year when people are ordering expensive gifts online and such. Some yahoo might have seen the FedEx truck rolling through your neighborhood, followed it and grabbed the package after it was left.

I hope you get it sorted out soon!!

If the consensus is that Fedex owns up to their mistake, I'll apologize...so I'll let you know in a few days how I feel about them, lol.

Fed-Ex rocks my world, they really are a well run company and when they make mistakes the own up to them and through good customer service make the problem bearable if not turn it into a great experience........

UPS on the other hand * SUCKS MONKEY BALLS*
Lets discuss. Picture It, Tampa Fall 2002.
I'm waiting for our athletic shirts to come in, so everyone can pay for them so I can write a big check for some event we had to put down a deposit on (Oh, BTW I was treasurer at the time) I needed these athletic shirts so bad I devoted an entire friday to sitting in the living room waiting for them to arrive ( I was told between noon and 6) now this might not seem that bad, but when you have to stay there and can't nap or anything it actually is quite the sacrifice for a friday afternoon. At 5:30 my roommate came home and goes, "Oh UPS was here, they left a sticky on the door" Lets just says livid was an understatement. I then call UPS who accuses me about lying that I was waiting all day for the package, told me tough shit you can wait until Monday for your package cause our driver is right, and you are a liar, and we are not making him turn around to deliver the package. In order to get the package at 8 pm Friday night I had to drive an hour to the UPS distribution center in the middle of the freaking industrial area, so its dark and creepy and basically I'm all sorts of skeeved out, to get the package, where when I pick it up, they again give me attitude for wanting my package now. Needless to say, I had a few choice words for both customer service and the distrubtion center people basically amounting to the run a crappy business, I'll never use UPS again, I'll make sure to tell as many people as possible about this experience, and that they suck! Moral of the story: UPS Sucks. Use USPS (postal service) or Fed-Ex .

Sorry for this long winded post, this topic gets my blood boiling still.

I used to work for FedEx and stuff like this happens all the time, generally it is a scanning error. At the station i worked at we would process and sort 30 000LBS of freight in less than 3 hours. Unfortunetly at that speed things sometimes get missed, sent to the wrong place etc. Everything you ship through FedEx is insured, so if it never arrives they should pick up the cost.

Never had a bad experience with Fedex. OOPS, on the other hand... I could tell you stories...

I used to live in an apartment complex. The UPS driver used to leave packages for us all the time... until one day, they started requiring a signature. When I called UPS to redirect the package to my office, they explained to me that a package is UPS's responsibility until it's in the recipient's hands, and they had a policy (which the driver evidently had been ignoring) that all packages delivered to apartments required signatures because they were more likely to be stolen out of the corridor. (Like you can't walk up to someone's house and grab a box. )

If the same holds true for Fedex, and your package has "disappeared", you should be able to get them to pay for a replacement.

Good luck!

Fed Ex (or any of their competitors either, for that matter) will never leave a package without a signature unless the company that is sending the package says it is okay to do so. It costs the company extra to send a package "signature required", which is why most mail order places don't require one. If one isn't required, I believe the delivery company's responsibility for the package ends when it's dropped off.

If a company sends out a package that is not specified signature required, I believe they are the ones that need to eat the cost of replacement; not the delivery company (which was only following directions).

Either way, as a general rule it's best to always pay using a credit card when doing mail order. That way you'll always have your cc company in your corner during a dispute. (not that this makes it any easier for poor Lynn to get her hubby's gift to him on time )

Update: No News other than they are trying to track down the driver to ask him what happened to the package.

FYI, FEDEX is closed on Sunday and on Monday, the day didn't start for start calling them wasn't until 9:00 a.m.. It's after 5 so I guess he hasn't shown up yet p.m.

I am talking to the company and they are sending me another one. Signature required.

Remember, if FedEx or the vendor don't take care of you, your credit card company will.
