Just wondered if any one had any fairly low budget ideas for decorating a - small - room (i.e hall of residence style room). I wondered about improving it next semester. Make it look better and stuff. Bit limited by the housing contract as to what can be done of course.
One of the girls on my floor hung a pretty sarang type of clothing very very loosely from the ceiling so that the room is not as bright as most rooms, plus it adds a slight purple-bluish tone to the room. It's very cool. We have drop ceilings in our rooms, but I don't know how you would be able to do this with a normal plaster like ceiling.

Change the standard issue curtains! I did this my freshman year and it was so much better. Also other ideas are nice posters (prints and reproductions of artwork) and a postcard wall...ask people from all over to send you postcards to cover a wall!
