I don't even know what commercial you're talking about? What's the commercial about?

Wow.. commercials for the postal service? I guess we need to increase the price of stamps to fund them.

Why do they need to advertise when they basically already have a monopoly on what they do? It's not like UPS/FedEx even want to give them a run for their money.

Their advertising isn't for their regular mail, it's for their package services. I'd imagine that it helps them compete with UPS and FedEx by getting out the facts about their services and pricing. By no means are they the only dominate force in package mailing anymore.

My guess is they generate more money w/ the ads than without, and thus it lowers the price of our stamps. Otherwise they'd surely be creamed in the media.

This just in... the post office is going to lower first class postage stamps by one penny.

And in other news, blizzard like conditions expected in the nether-regions of hell...

I didn't mean they would lower the price of stamps. I meant that without advertising they'd presumably generate fewer package sales (my guess is that's their prime revenue source) and thus have to raise the price of stamps even higher than what it is.

Someone can go and do the research, but as much as people complain about the postal service, I can't believe that someone hasn't already and discovered nothing bothersome.
