Big Trade Rumor (Baseball)
Quote:
Rollins and Abreu to Texas. A-Rod to the Sox. Trot Nixon and Nomar to the Phils.
|
Another version:
Quote:
Red Sox Acquire -- Alex Rodriguez and Bobby Abreu
Rangers acquire -- Manny Ramirez and Jimmy Rollins
Phillies acquire -- Nomar Garciaparra and Trot Nixon.
|
or another version:
Quote:
The Sox would send Garciaparra and Trot Nixon to the Phillies.
The Phillies would then send Rollins and Abreu to the Sox.
The Sox would then send Rollins along with Manny to the Rangers for A-Rod.

If there is anyway the Sox can work a trade for A-Rod they should do it. Nomar has fallen from elite status to simply being a good player in recent years. Where was he in the playoffs? A-Rod on the other hand is on the top of his game and is the f-ing MVP, why wouldn't you trade for him? Besides Nomar already rejected a 4 year $60 mil offer. To me, that doesn't sound like something someone who wanted to say in boston would do.

can i just say that i love you for that comment! not many people in boston realize this.. it's all pr, in my opinion, him coming out right now and saying he doesn't want to leave boston. if he really wanted to stay in boston, then how come he hasn't accepted one of the two deals he was already offered this year?

It has to be just a rumor. A-Rod today said it looks like he will still be with the Rangers this up coming season. So Boston will more than likely still have Nomar and Manny. I am not worried about them being pissed. They still have to play well or their market value will fall and Nomar wouldn't get as much money when he becomes a free agent and Manny won't get traded like he wants to be.

Chances are Nomar will not be a member of the Red Sox when the season starts - things have just come to the point of no return with him and the Sox, and the team will probably trade him, maybe before the winter meetings end.
I don't think A-Rod's coming to Boston - if the Rangers stick by their idea of having the Sox pay off much of Manny's contract, it's not going to happen.
However, the relationship between Nomar and the Sox has soured to the point of no return, and I don't see him coming back next year.
