Question Hair Stylist Fidelity?

Hey All:

I've been going to the same hair stylist for about a year now, and my hair is the healthiest that its ever been. It's spring break at the school were I teach, so I'm home visiting my mom. I didn't get a chance to get my hair done before I left, plus I'm leaving for Regionals Thursday and I knew it wouldn't look fresh. So, I've decided to visit another stylist. The problem is that I feel sooo guilty because my stylist brought my hair from a mighty long way! Do any of you feel that kind of loyalty to your stylist? And, is it cheating if I don't get a perm?

That is too cute, but I truly understand where you are coming from. I think if you are just honest with you regular, she'll understand. I know one thing that they hate is when they can TELL that someone else has been in your head, and you tell them otherwise!

I totally understand. My hair stylist has been doing my hair for the last 7 years and I WILL NOT let any one else in my head. Many of the college students will come back here just for her to do their hair. When I go home, I get my hair done here because I can just tell the difference when some one else does my hair.

I was like that too until my stylist started screwing up my hair! I couldn't believe it! She started getting so popular that she began "half" doing my hair! Now I go to a guy that does a fantastic job!

If you have to got to someone else, I agree with a previous poster who said be honest and tell them.

Hi Ladies, I hope you don't mind me posting.

Convinced, I was in a similar situation just a couple of weeks ago! I decided to change hair stylists all together. The one I had been using for the past four years was not helping my hair at all. She was more into the doing the latest styles rather than getting my hair healthy and strong. My new stylist cut my hair and basically started over. I had a lot of damage and breakage. She gave me a perm and deep conditioning. Even though it's been a couple of weeks, everyone could tell the difference.

I don't see any harm as long as you know that the new stylist won't damage your hair. Sometimes these things happen, it would be the same thing if you tried to schedule an appointment for an important event, but your stylist is already booked and can't get to you until after the event.

The same thing happened to me. I don't know what was wrong with her. I want to go back because she was doing such a good job for some years now. I think she was just going through something for the last few months. But she totally messed my hair up last fall.

I agree, just be honest. My stylist/colorist lives in my hometown-- she knows I can't drive/fly 300 miles every six weeks -- so she gave me the brand and color of the dyes she uses so if I need to I can see someone in my city for a quick fix.

We've gotta have good hair!!!!

Hello ladies: I don't think that I have ever mentioned it, but I am a licensed cosmetologist (have been since 1997) Speaking for myself, I would not be upset if my patron went to someone else because they were out of town or what-have-you. But, I would get upset if you went to someone else, they messed you up, and you came back to me to fix it . My cousin and aunt are both cosmetologists and they say that they get upset when they constantly try to talk their patron to try a new cut, or color or something, the patron refuses but, they in turn, go somewhere else and lets that person talk them into it.
Also, just a little advice...if you know that you are going out of town for a while, you may want to let your stylist know (I'm sure you probably tell her everything else ) and ask her if she can refer you to someone in that city...you never know what types of contacts she may have (we go to international conventions at least twice a year), and it will make her feel as if she was a part of your decision. I hope this helps.

Wellllll, I finally found me someone I think will be able to take care of my hair, like in the good ole days.

Now, that I have found her, I don't think I will let her go. If I am going out of town,I WILL rearange my schedule to make sure that the "DO" is "DONE" prior to leaving....
