living in the House?

I might be living in the house next semester! How cool is that?

There are spots open...and I *really* am not meshing well with being an RA (doesn't go well with the time intensive demands of my major)

So yay!

I'm trying to figure out if it's a good idea since I'm a new member, but at least one of the other new members is moving in...and I've been told it's such a great experience.

It'd cost less than living in the residence halls too, and no meal plan....woohoo

So what do you guys think?

I think it'd be a very good opportunity for you! It's a great way to meet older sisters. The DZs have a huge house (it's bigger than ours, even though everyone says ZTAs is the biggest). I wish ours was that big but people judge our house from the outside. It's actually small once you get inside. But, anyways, you should do it!

I lived in the house from the day I pledged til the day I graduated. We had a large room which slept 6 downstairs that was called the pledge dorm. We always called it "The Pit" since it was downstairs. I am told it still goes by "The Pit" many eons later.

At that time, San Diego State only had one commons and it was clear across campus. Living in the house not only brought me closer to my sisters, was cheaper than the dorms, but we had a kitchen downstairs! No tramping across campus in the pouring rain if you had no classes that day (like on weekends when it always seemed to rain).

I would take this opportunity to move in. It is a great experience and is another part of your membership that can only take place while you are in school. Experience everything the school offers to experience. Soon you will be out in the real world and it will be harder to enjoy these experiences.

move in the house!

Pixell-

If it is cheaper and your RA duties are wearing you out, then move in the sorority house.

Don't be worried about moving in. You're a Delta Zeta now sweetie. It's YOUR house now, if you live there or not. Repeat this to yourself- This is MY house. I am a Delta Zeta too.

I lived in the house when I was in college and it was a great experience. Try to find a roomie that has a similar lifestyle to you. Someone who has similar study habits to you is a good match. Same as in the dorm!

You will find that you will get to know the girls much quicker. Enjoy!

I don't understand why it would matter if you were a new member, unless rooms are chosen on pledge class. But still, living in the house is an amazing experience, there is no better way to dive into sorority life. Just a warning. When I lived in our house, it took up tons of time, kinda the same amount as being an RA. The biggest difference was that is was POSSIBLE to split yourself from the inner-house drama. You just have to make a committment to leaving the house sometimes to do work... or at least at our house cause that place is crazy...

I would definitly take this opportunity to live in the house.
I would have loved to live in a house. Unfortunately, my school/city does not permit houses.
In my eyes, you are lucky, so take advantage of it.

I lived in from second semester freshman year until the day I graduated and loved it. It helped me stay focused in school, I loved the camradarie and sisterhood I felt every day and I really missed it when I graduated and left (and I still do 3+ years later!)

Good luck!

edited because camradarie only has 1 d!

Yay for living in the house!! I do have to tell you that it can either be great or horrible though. And I think it all depends on who you live with and the other sisters that live with you. My first semester of living in the AZD house didn't go so well since my roomie and i were COMPLETELY different. She was a morning person and I was a night person along with several other differences. But second semester I lived with my best friend and it was the best time of my life. It's truly an experience that I think everyone should try for at least a year. You will look back on it fondly i promise!!!

Sweetie, go on and live in that house! And think about all your other poor DZ sisters (like me) whose chapters don't even have houses!

Cool

Oh jeeze living in the House!

the local I started did not have a house the 1 st Sem. I found one and we worked our butts off to get it cleaned (Many Stories 0n that), the second Sem. We had everybody in the House as All Broke Rental Contracts to do it. We did not one or two to a room, we were jammed in and had a damn ball.

We demolished our Last and the oldest house, where there was no heat, the drains ran backed in and flooded the basement where guys were living.

But, now we have No House. No place to be at. No place to meet at.

The memories of the House I lived in and the ensuing House that I was with My Brothers lived in and I came back to are so precious to me.

I went down for Homecomeing last and drove into the drive and just sat, popped a beer, lit a cigarette, cried and remebered the fun times that I had there!

They are Your Sisters, you may not get along with them sometimes because, you become a very close knit Family.

If you miss this, you will miss one of the biggest things of your life.

you may be a Sister, but THE HOUSE is the center of everything. While you are away, there maybe things going on that you will never experience!

It is the Center of the action. If it is a Floor of a Dorm, no matter. That is where it is all ahppening!

Snooze Lose!

I was always so disappointed that my chapter didn't have a house. If you get the opportunity to do it you should try it!! It is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that will have its awesome moments and its stressful moments. Good luck!!

yes, yes, yes!!!

as aopihottie said, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. you have already lived in a dorm, you can live in an apartment when you graduate, but living in a sorority house you can do only while you are in college. i lived in the house for three years officially and unofficially for four(i did not get along with my freshman dorm roommate!), and i had a great time doing it! it was nice having meals prepared, and the house cleaned. You are in the center of it all in the house so you will know what is going on. enjoy!!
