New Member Education

Wasn't quite sure where to post this...

But, I'm VP Membership for my chapter of SAI. Our pledge program just really lacks...not enough fun during pledging, for one. And I want some ideas on helping new girls learn their material for their tests without it being totally boring.

Like I mentioned, we don't do enough fun activities during pledging. Any cute ideas of little fun things to do, maybe in meetings, to keep everyone motivated?

I want our pledging to be an overall positive experience instead of all work. I want everyone to reflect on pledging with fond memories, instead of being glad it's over.

If it's not private information, I would like to know what other groups do for their pledging periods. You can post here or PM me.

Thanks in advance!

For our NM prog, the finale is 'pledge jeapordy' (yea yea yea, we're working on the word pledge ) so that has questions about everything in AST. it is a great review session, plus we require that our actives all go to it, it helps us review for our annual test, plus is good big/lil bonding.

we used to do sleepovers, but people get grumpy sleeping on the floor, (edit- only 10 women live in, so everyone was required to sleep in the living room unless they had a medical reason.) so we changed it to having the nm's plan a sisterhood event. that way they get practice planning, plus we get fresh ideas as the actives aren't allowed to help unless asked. (we don't even really know till right before hand.) the nm educator helps them, to make sure it is line w/ policies, but it works great!

We have pledge class banners too that we hang in our house.

What I think works best if you do a sleepover is to have everyone in the same room, like the basement or living room or something, and have everyone sleeping on the floor! I'd imagine the new members might get grumpy if it was a "sleepover" at the sorority house and then all the actives went upstairs and slept in their own beds!
For Phi Sigma Pi, we always do a GattiTown night sometime during the new member period. All the new members go and hang out with the brothers, we play the games, eat the pizza, etc. It's always a fun time and there's always much rivalry at the air hockey table!
