some suggestions please

Hello to everyone...My name is Jeremy and I'm one of the Founding Fathers of the Colony at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. I was just curious if anyone had any recomendations to our Colony. Currently we are being recognized both by the school and nationals about being a very strong colony. That we are, there is already an extremely strong bond between those of us who started this colony and we actually expect to gain chapter status in less than a year. We don't have that much else to do. There are a few fraters who had originally been a part of a local underground at UMBC, so they have helped greatly in our starting process and in education. I was just curious if there are other fraters out there who have been involved in this process and can give some pointers. Any recomendation will be greatly appreciated.
Yours in the Bond,
Jeremy

Don't be happy with a keg - get two.

Good luck to you all.

If you asked a bunch of the old farts who post here (and there are some real ones here), unanimously they would say "get more pledges". Be the leader on your campus size-wise, and you'll soon be the campus leader in socials, intramurals, politics, and women too.

The great Past Grand Prytanis Jim Logan is famous for saying "There's no problem a good rush can't solve."

You'll hear from some of the weaker members in your colony "we want quality, not quantity." This is bogus. The best chapters - the ones you want to be in - the winners - are large.

The small chapters - the ones most happy to have the highest number of donors to the blood drive every year - suck. Sure, they may have a few good guys, but they can't attract more because they suck.

Don't be happy with a keg - get two.

How many guys do you have now?

PS: If you haven't been initiated, you can't use "Yours in the bond".

I was initiated September 19th this year. As far as our numbers are concerned, we have 15. Our school has a very small Greek life, one of our goals is to really take it to the school and icrease the presence on this campus. So far so good. Even though we are small because we are new, we have already become a dominating force and have many guys really interested in joining up. Our candidate class is 8 right now because we were held back in rushing a bit by our IFC. Mainly because the IFC president is an SAE that is scared right now that we are moving fast. Things are going really well and we are becoming a leading force on campus just by our voice right now. I can see the numbers following very shortly and like I've said, we will probably gain chapter status by next fall. Thank you for the advice and I will talk to you all later.

Keep going

I didn't realize that colony members can be initiated. Of course, there's a lot I don't know.

What chapter initiated you?

don't get too uptight about SAE at Maryland-Baltimore. SAE is one damned fine fraternity. TKE could do very well by being friends with this class outfit...It is, arguably perhaps, one of the finest fraternities in America...really...Phi Alpha from an old TKE
