Canada: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Alrighty then.....

Since some have complained about my comments in regards to the US administration and specifically G.W. I've decided to allow you guys to get those burning comments about the Great White North out there

The Good is for what you believe is good about the people or country; The Bad is for what you see wrong (serious); The Ugly is for the not-so serious stuff you feel is wrong.

So lets keep it simple, short and civil people...... and just to be a good sport I'll get it rolling.

The Good :
- The international perspective most media outlets maintain.
- Our "liberal" view of arts (the rippers, legal to walk topless down any street in Toronto).
- The beer, no explanation necessary

- Hockey (again no explantion needed)

The Bad:
- Lack of knowledge about our past, history is important.
- Anti-militarism of the general populace; you want the military to be peacekeeps, but you don't want to equip the military.
- Our treatment of the Natives; if you marginalize a people, you only breed anger and resentment.
- the growing sensationialism of politics; start worry about the issue, not your image.

The Ugly:
- The majority of Canadian movies or TV shows.... damn, get some production skills.
- The hockey-mullet, yes I had one too.... but that was 2 decades ago people.

I agree! Seriously...what is wrong with Canadian productions? I just don't understand.

Except for Degrassi...All time best Canadian show!

I'm sorry, but I just don't get Kids in The Hall.....it's just not funny to me.

Quebec moved to Denver and won two Stanley Cups......Thanks

I wish our end zones were 10 yds deeper like Canada's

We should have two teams with the same name, like the Rough Riders and the RoughRiders

The Good:

I love Banff!

The Bad:

Nothing serious.

The Ugly:
(The Ugly is for the not-so serious stuff you feel is wrong.)

Since Canada usually has an "also ran" role (if any role at all) in international affairs or politics, it is hard to take Canadian complaints about American policy serious. (Don't flame me, it's a joke)

What's up with the price of Alcohol?

All the Canadians who come to the states for health care... GO HOME. Get on a waiting list for socialized medicine. Sheeesh, you deserve it!

Remember, these are not serious... I really don't have anything bad to say about our good neighbors to the North.

Kids in the Hall - its a very cultural specific I guess, and very Torontoian at that. Most Canadian humor is a cross between British and American humor.

Rogue - it's a word of French origin meaning tramp, thief, someone that behaves counter to society.

All I would like to add to this thread:

I love Kids in the Hall, but no one else I know appreciates it. I guess I just have an international sense of humor!

RACooper, I would like to assure you that Canadians weren't the only ones afflicted by the hockey mullet. We had them here, too. Sadly, they're still considered by many in my town to be a viable styling option

I love the Kids in the Hall too, and I've never been anywhere near Toronto. I've been to Canada once, and was a 2 day trip to Vancouver. I frequently joke about emmigrating to Canada, and though I know I won't, I'd like to go back for another visit someday.

I believe she is refering to people that go to the US for immediate treatment, instead of waiting for it up here. For example it may take a couple of weeks for treatment here in Toronto, but if you head to New York and drop the cash you'll get immediate treatment.

Thanks.....that kinda helped....so, if the offense fumbles the ball, I, as a defender, can kick it into their end zone, fall on it, and that's a point?
