Loyalty vs. Fairweather
I'm on the west coast, I can't stand how fair weather our fans are (especially Charger fans hehehe). When the going is good, the stadiums are filled. If not, then...well...if you came to Qualcomm Stadium this season to watch the Padres......
On the other hand, if Ohio State went 0-12 I guarentee they'll still sell out the stadium with both a shitload of alums and students, same thing ith Michigan, FSU. Same thing with professional teams; hell, the Red Sox could field a minor league team and I bet they'll still sell out Fenway.
Now, I've heard the argument that West Coast fans are "smart" for not going when the team sucks....but what kind of fan are you if you do that? I went to damn near half the Padres home games (every other game I was too busy or something), and the Pads lost 90% of those games! And I'll still be a die hard Pad fan. Same thing with the Patriots and Avalanche.
So, what makes more sense, going when the team is good to avoid spending money/time on "just another loss", or actually showing some pride and supporting your team no matter how bad they are.
ETA: This is why the Chargers and their fans don't DESERVE to go to the playoffs much less a Super Bowl.

My NFL team is not doing good this year, but I still love them. I always will. W or L, they're still my team. Go 49'ers!

I love my team win or lose as well (and YEAH they're winning) BUT......
The tickets are SO expensive that it's hard to justify spending that much when they are doing poorly. And, when it's an open stadium and it's pouring outside (this is Seattle after all). so far this year, it has yet to rain on any Seahawks home game.
But, the M's are sold out pretty much all the time.

Agreed. But maybe when I become a multi-gozillionaire I will spring for season tickets and go to every game.

You wouldn't ask that question if you were from Detroit...
I will pay to go to games when we have a professional football team. (Or baseball team for that matter!)
If I failed at my job as miserably as the Lions and Tigers do, I wouldn't expect my employer to keep me employed.

My NFL team has always been the Chiefs. I've been with them through horrid years including the last two (8-8 and 6-10). I was not a happy camper but I've always liked them, as far back as the days of Okoye.
I've always hated the Chargers and the Broncos
I love the Brewers and they suck like no other, but one day, just one day they'll make me happy.

I've been a birds Eagles fan ever since I was 10 and I figured out the rules of the game. I've lived through the good years of 10-6, 10-6, 11-5,11-5, 12-4, D-Mac lighting up the league and great defenses but I've been around since Kotite, the 7-9, 6-9-1, 3-13 hell of '98 and 5-11. Big Red gets on my nerves, I will forever hate Kotite, but I will forever bleed eagles green!

I know what you are all going to say - but I have ALWAYS been a Yankees fan. My dad is a huge fan, and I grew up watching Yanks games. From the days of Mattingly, Randolph and Winfield, through the tough years of Steve Sax, Andy Hawkins and Steve Balboni, and back to the glory years now, I have always been and will always be a fan, whether they win 100 or lose 100 games.
As for my other teams - I will always be a NY Giants fan, and will always root for UConn basketball.

I was a Broncos fan and have been forever. Doesn't that alone prove my loyalty? I remember before they won back to back super bowls and going 8-8 was considered a 'good' year

I was raised a laker fan, saw them good, then suck, and suck, and suck more, and then be good, so all the laker haters don't bother me. Was raised an angel fan, I put up with 21 years of them sucking and got one championship, and i still love um ! Football, well we were rams fans till they ditched LA, since then I picked up KC cause Joe Montana and Marcus allen were on it back then, and ive rooted for them since, finally they look like they might actually make it pretty far in the post season !
