SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - More than 40 Lake Superior State members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity participated in the chapter's annual 167-mile bathtub push to raise money for Special Olympics.
The modified bathtub cart began its journey in Marquette on Friday and was set to arrive in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday.
Fraternity vice president Matt Penridge told The Evening News before the event began that the prospect of snow was not new to TKE members, whose route takes them along Michigan 28 to the Mackinac Trail.
"It's not any fun," Penridge said of snow. "It usually takes us 35 to 40 hours," he said.
Fraternity members, accompanied by a van for safety, take turns pushing the cart down the highway.
Last year, the tub push netted $1,200 in donations.
