Social Ideas

While we do have socials with other groups, we also throw socials for just the sisters and pledges. There is NO alcohol during these events. I was wondering if anybody had any good theme ideas. Each person needs a specific "character" For example, last year we threw a Grease themed party. Everyone was given a charcter from Grease. It was lots of fun, but we need some new ideas. Anyone???

I've heard of other sororities doing this on other campuses.

It is called a "Mocktails" party and everyone dresses up like a glamour girl and the sorority is divided into groups. Then the groups bring ingredients to the house and make non-alcoholic beverages. There can be music and games. But the idea is to put people into groups who normally don't hang out together. I would love to do this for my chapter since we are growing with a pledge class of 95 this year!

What we do at Ole Miss:
We've gone bowling together and we break the members into teams. They compete and there are prizes for everyone. We've also had a cook out at an alumnae's house here in town where we have burgers, hot dogs, etc and mingle for a few hours and play some sisterhood games.

We are having a bonfire this week and then a cookout with our brother frat. next weekend. I think they pledges have to throw their theme party for us first and then we throw ours. Mocktails is a good idea though.

I'll definately mention it to my sisters!

I've heard of a Madonna party where everyone dresses up like Madonna in a different stage of her career and then you all listen to her music and maybe dance or do some other fun activity. It depends on the size of your chapter though if this would work.

We had a family scavenger hunt, it was a great way to get the new members intorduced to thier family. And it turned out to be so much fun cuz we went all over the city. We also did a ballers and bitches themed mixer. I know it sounds digrading but it was the best one i ever went to, actaully i put it on. The theme was good it left the attire up to everyones creativity. Some girls dressed kinda slutty while other were more on the athletic side. the main idea of the event was to break people up into groups and hand them a cd player with a song. The song were more old school rap, from rappers delight to vanilla ice. We said here you have 25 mins to come up with a dance. And then we performed them infornt of everyone else. It was awesome.
Just recently the girls kinda did the same thing except with a jocks and cheerleaders theme, but this time they made up cheers. Our favorite is mud football. It always turns into a big mess but so much fun!
If you need any other ideas feel free to pm me, i was social chair for my sorority and i worked really close with out internal chair(sisterhoods) We can brainstorm together.
