HELP! Need COR events
Hi everyone!
This is an emergency! I am currently the president of Eta Psi chapter at Valparaiso University and our chapter nubmers are very low right now. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for throwing a great COR events on a campus that is in the middle of no where and where Greek life is disappearing. HELP!!!

The first COR event I went to was a luncheon.. the girls had it catered and it was yummy BBQ (plus some awesome peach cobbler for dessert!)
If you have any skating rinks in your area, that would also be tons of fun!
If you're on a budget, maybe a "movie night" could work.. you could rent some movies, make some popcorn, and chat
I will definately try to come up with some more ideas tomorrow morning.. it's very late and I should have been asleep 2 hours ago

we're pretty much in the middle of nowhere too, so I understand that well!
order in pizzas and watch a movie... have a spa night with facials and stuff (that's my favourite!)... get together to watch the weekly episode of a show that everyone likes... have a spaghetti dinner...
this is all stuff we've done! And we have a local pub that has wings night every Wednesday... we've used that several times. I don't know what you do have around there, but something like that always seems to draw quite a few girls, since a lot of people would have gone to it anyway.

What about a "field trip" into Chicago? It's not that far, and you'd probably get a lot of women who wouldn't normally think twice about a COR event. A very dear friend of mine works at Valpo (her daughter will be attending next year, with any luck at all!), and her daughters are always up for a trip to "the city".
Do you have an alumna or two who have min-vans so y'all can carpool? Designate one or two places that y'all will be going to and advertise as such. Pick a fun place (Marshall Fields, Museum of Science & Industry, Frank Lloyd Wright House) and someplace like Rock & Roll McDonalds. Be sure to have a sister or two with each PNM (trying to match personalities, if possible), and for heaven's sake, don't leave anyone in Chicago!!
Yes, it would be a full day, but it would definitely be a fun day!

Jessy,
Best of luck with COR! I know it's hard thinking of original ideas...it seems like we do the same things over and over. The only idea that came to mind for me today was to invite the PNM's for ice cream or something and then go to a basketball game (since I know Crusader basketball will be beginning again pretty soon! ) Best of luck and keep up your ADPi spirit!
Love and loyally,
JAD

Hiya, Jessy! *hugs* to you and the chapter!
If you go to search and type in the words " recruitment event ideas " (without quotes) you'll get a few previous threads that had a lot of great ideas.
One that I hadn't seen listed here, which you've probably done before, is a game night. Get cards, board games, stuff like pictionary or taboo. Those always seemed to be fun! Serve food along with it (maybe pair it with a sundae-making party?), and you should have people coming out in no time.
A picnic between Lankenau and Scheele could also be fun, as long as it doesn't rain!
Perhaps a night at Jester's or whatever they're calling the game room these days-- pool, air hockey, darts, etc.
Hope these help!

does your chapter participate in intramurals?
if so, maybe you can invite the pnm's to the game! it would be great to show them the ADPi spirit, and also get a chance to know them better

A really funny event that my chapter did was a "New Kids On The Block" video night...It was such a rush back to being a kid again...and just starts up the funniest conversations...And yes one of my sisters does actually still have one of their videos...
